Ra. Always contemplating in front with body, speech, and mind, I recite this verse of praise. I prostrate to the one who liberates sentient beings from suffering. I prostrate to the one who truly reveals and is free from defilements. I prostrate to the one who is complete, wordless, and free from letters. I prostrate to the glory of the accumulation of merit and wisdom. I prostrate to the one who teaches with great effort. Body, speech, and mind are like the sun and nectar, pervading beings like the sky, I prostrate to the wish-fulfilling jewel of qualities and activities. Lama, you are my supreme refuge, I offer you my body and all my possessions. When first meeting, respectfully join palms, and prostrate well with the five limbs. Then, clean the ground in a pleasant place. After spreading a soft cushion well, have a backrest, and in front, a copper pot and wooden spoon, and clean, cool scented water for washing the face and feet, and abandon things that are unpleasant to the eye. After preparing clean and virtuous food well, wipe the dust from precious vessels with a cloth. Bow down in front, wash both hands well, and offer with both hands in a respectful manner. Whatever is given in the hand or by the lama, after receiving it with respect, accept it well with both hands, and act comfortably, showing respectful conduct. Then, after cooling the hands and feet well with scented water, on a good and high excellent throne, cover the face well with a clean cloth, and invite them to sit on a soft footstool. On a red backrest with nails, hang brocade umbrellas and curtains above. Offer a mandala drawn in accordance with the tradition to the Dharma and virtuous friends. Praise with flowers, incense, lamps, perfume, and delicious food and music, and gold, jewels, pearls, lapis lazuli, coral, the essence of stone, silver, conch shells, red coral, turquoise, precious gems, crystal, silk and satin, elephants, horses, and sons and daughters, wives, servants, and grains. I offer my wealth to the best of my ability. Then, respectfully make three requests, and after generating great compassion for beings, and after contemplating perfect enlightenment in the mind, listen with a mind free from afflictions, and follow the conduct in accordance with the tradition. To the one who speaks the Dharma, with well-spoken words,

Finally, give instructions. All the vast merits arising from listening should be dedicated to perfect enlightenment. Towards the speaker of the Dharma, regardless of their lineage, appearance, learning, or bad behavior, and however much they are despised, do not harbor contempt, for they rely on the Dharma. Do not be filled with pride by gains, fame, learning, discipline, appearance, or other qualities. It is not for the sake of knowing, profiting, or gaining that one should desire; in short, subdue the mind of afflictions. Thus, and so forth, for the sake of the boundless and supreme, towards one's own Guru, who is complete with all qualities, with the three doors of body, speech, and mind, serve with reverence in limitless ways. Who could speak of it even for an eon? In brief, this is what is said: like the precious jewels such as the Buddhas, and one's own defeats, one's own body, one's own cherished wealth, protect and accomplish what one is attached to. The conduct of the Guru and disciple is shown, this is the first chapter. Chapter Two: Overcoming the Lord of Death The disciple requests: The conduct of serving the Guru is understood. For what purpose should it be practiced? Please explain to me. The teacher replies: From beginningless samsara, in order to conquer the four Maras who cause harm by acting against harmony, I will explain the question in detail. By what means is the supreme deathless body attained, which is the basis of all qualities? Why are sentient beings short-lived and unable to achieve the state of immortality? Therefore, with all effort, one should cultivate deathlessness. In order to permanently attain deathlessness, which is victory over the Lord of Death, for the sake of practicing the sacred Dharma for immeasurable results, the Victorious Ones have declared that death should be destroyed. By being skilled in the characteristics of the outer and inner signs of death, one becomes a means of deceiving the Lord of Death. Make great effort, for the fruit is in hand for the mind of effort. From ignorance to the end of old age and death, the time of birth and death is uncertain. It abides like a revolving wheel. Pacifying its obstacles is deceiving the Lord of Death. The five senses manifest outer signs, and the sixth consciousness should know it internally. The inner workings of the Lord of Death proceed in order. By possessing skillful means, death can be destroyed. These are briefly explained in the Yogatantras, the Root Tantras, the Four Seats, the Chakrasamvara, the Dakini, and the Kalachakra.
