Before the stupa, praise and offer incense, garlands, and lamps. Offer umbrellas, victory banners, streamers, and music with utmost faith. Just as rivers constantly flow day and night without ceasing, similarly, through prostrations, recitations, and asceticism, all merits will increase without exception. Just as through fire offerings and recitations, secret mantras are proclaimed, and if accomplishments are not attained, or if a hundred thousand stupas are built of clay, or if they are erected on the sandy banks of a river, in this way, their sins will be exhausted in future lives, whatever actions have been done. Therefore, through the power of secret mantras, in this very life, one obtains the fruit of merit in this visible dharma. May they generate faith in the Sugata, and likewise generate the mind of Bodhichitta. The Vajra family is said to be vast, and may they also have faith and joy in me. Fame and obscurity, gain and loss, happiness and suffering, likewise praise and blame, with the mind subdue all worldly dharmas, and abandon that which has become a place of sin. For example, just as the ocean does not remain even for a moment with a corpse, likewise, the sins committed by the mind of conceptual thought should not be allowed to remain even for a moment by the mantra practitioner. Apply the water of loving-kindness and compassion to hatred, and for a while, even an enemy will turn into a friend. Friends will also turn into enemies. Likewise, some will turn into neutral parties. That neutral person will also turn into an enemy. Thus, one should understand the changing nature of friendship, and the wise should never be attached. The mind that delights in relatives is conceptual thought, and having turned away from it, one should abide comfortably in virtue. Laziness, desire, and the mind endowed with non-virtue, wherever they wander and roam, quickly turn them away and skillfully apply them to the offering of secret mantra syllables. Establish firm faith in the Three Jewels. Just as the flames of a summer forest fire spread and burn all the thickets without restraint, fuel the fire of recitation with the wind of discipline, and burn sins with the flame of great diligence. Offering flowers, incense, praise, and lamps, through discipline, diligence, and asceticism, may all those virtues be dedicated to the unsurpassed, the supreme, unsurpassed perfect enlightenment of the Buddha.

Gather together. For example, when rivers flow into the ocean, they become one taste of salt. Similarly, the merit dedicated to the supreme, unsurpassed Bodhi will become the taste of the Victorious Ones. For example, some people cultivate rice for the sake of the fruit, not for the sake of the straw. However, after cultivating rice, without having to collect it, a pile of straw will naturally arise as a byproduct. Similarly, one performs virtuous deeds desiring the fruit of Bodhi, not for the sake of enjoyment. Yet, like a pile of straw, even without striving for it, human enjoyment is accomplished. May we properly obtain longevity, may we find places to practice the Dharma properly, may we be without birth and death, and may all the aspirations of beings always be fulfilled. Standing, sitting, sleeping, lying down, prostrating, eating, reading, reciting, one should remember the individual qualities of the six recollections, and with awareness, one should remember them. Remembering the Sugata, the Dharma, and the Sangha, one should prostrate to Shariputra and to me with joined palms before sleeping. In this way, all virtuous thoughts will not be exhausted. Gods and so on, obstacles, and those with wrong views will not find fault with those who abide in asceticism. Just as all crops rely on the earth to grow without harm, similarly, relying on discipline, the supreme white Dharma, moistened by the water of compassion, grows completely. The Pratimoksha vows that I, the Victorious One, have spoken, from all the pure vows and disciplines, mantra practitioners and householders should abandon the signs and rituals, and the rest should be practiced. The bliss and wealth of the gods, as well as life, strength, perfect form, vast learning, beautiful radiance, unified mind, and great power, all can be obtained through the power of asceticism. When the mind is joyful, having generated the mind of Bodhi in the human realm, from then on, gods, asuras, and the entire world will pay homage to him. Humans have taken all the supreme trainings of higher realms, and having given fearlessness to all sentient beings, and also protected the lineage of the Three Jewels. Just as the sun's rays on a snow mountain, when melting, emit an unbearable brilliance, similarly, reciting with the sunlight of discipline, when melting, will
