"With what empowerment of the vase," meaning that the vase empowerment is the general preliminary. What is the specific preliminary? Examining and requesting the consort, examining whether it is given or not, purifying, giving birth, and accepting, guarding and secretly examining, dispelling the obstacles there, in that union of blessing, after completing the preparatory rituals, the consort empowerment union, oneself receiving permission, and externally to the disciple, giving the secret vows, all the secret deities and things, how to prepare, and what accomplishment rituals, the supreme union should be known here. This speaks of examining whether the Mudra consort is a virgin and sixteen years old, like the union of examining the foundation, requesting the local king and father, etc., and also examining the union of later accomplishments in dreams, laying out flowers on the mandala for examination, generating that self into the nature of Vajra Samantabhadri, etc., these are the order of what should be done before. What is the union of symbols? "With what flower is it thrown, so also look at others," meaning that in secret, one should know that the seen inquiry and throwing of flowers will arise, as well as speaking through the union of wisdom descending. What is the symbolic timing here? "The large one pressing the lotus is, the union of sun and moon," meaning that the large one pressing the lotus, one should know that this is a symbol of secret empowerment. Others think that the right union is performed on the left. How should one meditate at that time?
