I. Explanation of the Actual Path. I. Explanation of the Actual Path. Explanation of the Path that Ripens. Explanation of the Vase Empowerment. In Sanskrit: Samaja Abhisamaya Alankara Vritti. In Tibetan: Explanation of the Ornament of Realization of the Guhyasamaja. Homage to the Bhagavan Vajrasattva! He who has dispelled the darkness and has no true lamp, to make that lamp, always born of supreme joy, I pay homage to that Bhagavan Vajrasattva. The meaning of realization is explained by Chandrakirti. All secret mantras, if summarized, are of two types. Therefore, for the sake of explaining them, there are the path and the fruit. Thus, the path and the fruit are only two. If asked, doesn't it become three with the nature of yoga? It does not become three. Thus, those of the Mahayana lineage are included in skillful means because they obtain the seed. If asked, what are these called the path and the fruit, and one does not know what they are? Thus, because it becomes the basis, it is the path. Because one relies on something, it is the path, namely wisdom and samadhi. Wisdom is knowing the path of ripening and liberation as it is. That which is thoroughly distinguished by wisdom, the one-pointedness on that is samadhi. The fruit is the three kayas, etc. If asked, what is the path? Explaining that: The path is to be known as two. As it says, the path is also two, and two is also the day, so it is two. Because it has two, it is two paths. That is also like this, namely the nature of entering, the nature of relying, the nature of happiness, the nature of abandoning suffering, the nature of abandoning the combination of one and three, the nature of obtaining, and the nature of abandoning. If asked, what are the two? Namely ripening and liberation. As it says, by what does one ripen, namely by the nature of making the continuum suitable, it is the path of ripening. The path of liberation is the nature of what liberates from the aggregates of suffering. If asked, what ripens? That which ripens is two, because it has two, it is two. If asked, what are the two? Namely the actual and its companion. As it says, That which ripens is two, the actual that ripens, and its companion conduct. In that which ripens

What is truly existent is the principal. What benefits it is its friend. What is meant by "truly existent"? The phrase "The ripened truly existent has four aspects" indicates that because it has four, it is four aspects. What are these four? "Vase, secret, wisdom, and innate wisdom are the four." This means the vase is the empowerment of the vase. Similarly, apply "self-empowerment" to all. Why are there four like this? It is because of the three abodes with their results, or because of the four such as time. Then, what is there in the vase empowerment? "In that, the vase empowerment also has thirty distinctions." This means that because it has thirty, it is thirty. It is both the vase empowerment and thirty, so it is thirty. Whatever is in the vase is also in the secret, wisdom, and innate wisdom. If one asks, what are those? The answer is, "Essence and distinction, etc." First, some individuals who are beginners in practice doubt whether essence exists or not, thinking, "This has no essence," or "This has essence, but it is not the essence of this," or "Does this have essence or not?" To counteract these, essence is mentioned. Similarly, to counteract the situation where essence exists but certainty has not arisen, definite words are stated. To counteract the thought, "This is only this and not something else," distinction is stated. To counteract the thought, "These are different," names are stated. To counteract transforming into another form, having many qualities is stated. To counteract transforming into something else, eliminating others is stated. To counteract thinking there is no cause, cause is stated. To counteract thinking there was no vase or result of the vase in the past, the topic is stated. To counteract not knowing where to act, the place is stated. To counteract not knowing when to act, the time is stated. To counteract not knowing who acts, the teacher is stated. To counteract not knowing to whom he acts, the student is stated. To counteract not knowing on what object to act, the object is stated. Similarly, to counteract not knowing who bestows on whom, the order of empowerment is stated. To counteract not knowing in what manner it is bestowed, the method is stated.
