If it is said that by becoming a seat, one will achieve the supreme state, is this not contradictory? The Vajra Master said: Vajra disciple, it is excellent, excellent that you ask in order to dispel doubts about all desirous behaviors. Therefore, I will explain an important point, listen carefully! Afflictions are the cause of afflictions for those who focus on appearances, such as the Shravakas, because they do not fully understand the nature of afflictions. If the nature is fully understood, it will become a cause for enlightenment, as the Blessed One said in the Sutras. As it is said in the great yoga tantra called "Glorious Supreme First": Attachment, hatred, and ignorance, clinging to them becomes poison. If the poison itself is pacified, the poison becomes non-poisonous. Gradually relying on nectar, it also becomes nectar. Thus it is said. In the Sutra of the Heap of Jewels, it is also said: Light Protector, just as the excrement of a large city is beneficial to sugarcane fields, rice fields, and grape fields. Light Protector, similarly, the field of afflictions of a Bodhisattva is also beneficial to omniscience. Light Protector, just as poison that is completely controlled by mantras and medicine cannot cause death. Light Protector, similarly, the poison of afflictions that is completely controlled by wisdom and skillful means cannot cause one to fall into wrongdoing. Furthermore, in the great yoga tantra called "Taming Accomplished Meaningfully," it is also said: What binds the fool, that frees the wise completely. Having meditated on enlightenment, all these are reversed. What binds the ignorant, and inevitably leads to weeping and wailing, that very thing liberates, and through the power of wisdom, happiness is attained. Thus it is said. This reasoning will inspire the special, and when the special are fully inspired, it becomes the cause for producing special and pleasing fruits.
