However, foolish ordinary people cling to untrue dharmas, cling to inversions, and cling to all dharmas like chaff and dregs. Therefore, sentient beings will go to hell, the animal realm, and the realm of Yama. Bhikshus, is it like that? Are sentient beings defiled because the mind is defiled by afflictions? Are sentient beings purified because the mind is purified? Thus it is said. In the Tathāgatagarbha Sūtra, it is also said: If one has no faith in all dharmas, but manifests joy and extreme admiration, therefore, I will not say that this sentient being will fall into the lower realms. Why is that? Because afflictions have no substance. All afflictions arise from emptiness, arising from the assembly of causes and conditions, and cease as soon as they arise. Whatever arises and ceases is destroyed by afflictions. Thus it is said. Nāgārjuna Bodhisattva, in order to clarify this meaning, said: If all of this is emptiness, is unborn self-nature, then, how do happiness and suffering, etc., enter here and transmigrate through karma? As soon as one clings to self, then come defilements such as desire. After observation, it will be found that they are subject to external forces, therefore, foolish people are tormented by suffering. All of this is only mind, truly appearing like an illusion. Then, through virtuous and non-virtuous actions, one is born in good and bad realms. Thus it is said. Therefore, through this reasoning, and through scriptures and reason, all the Tathāgatas who possess great compassion, seeing that all sentient beings are drowning in the abyss of suffering, without refuge and without protection, then, in the manner of conventional truth, completely understand the nature of afflictions, thereby purifying afflictions. Furthermore, conventional truth is also purified by ultimate truth, thereby causing them to abide in samādhi that possesses true self-nature. The Fifth Chapter, "Analysis of the Limits of Action: A Summary of Cutting Doubts," is complete. Chapter Six: Cutting Doubts by Summarizing Conventional Truth. The Vajra disciple asked: Your

In the presence of (a certain) venerable one, thanks to his kindness, following the scriptures he just spoke, it is necessary to understand by examining the nature of body, speech, and mind separately. As for the differences of other samādhis, one should also ask the venerable one and constantly request instruction on the differences of samādhi. Starting from the generation stage, up to the ultimate of body isolation, it is only a matter of being particularly interested in the nature of the three vajras and so on. Therefore, even in body isolation, there is no form of a deity, because the body is only an accumulation of minute particles. The ultimate of speech isolation is also only to fully understand vajra recitation through the stages such as entering. Even in that, there is no form of a deity, because sounds are like echoes in a valley. The ultimate of mind isolation is also only to fully understand the self-manifestation, so there it is impossible to find the nature of the deity's body with all the supreme qualities, because the mind is only a manifestation. With this reasoning, it is impossible to find a dwelling by relying on the conventional. Therefore, one should realize from the master's presence that the deity is generated by wisdom alone. The Vajra Acharya said: Great Bodhisattva, well done! well done! The inconceivable reality of the deities spoken by all the Buddhas, which comes from the lineage of the gurus, and is not even the realm of the lords of the ten bhūmis, I shall understand it. The so-called fully knowing one's own mind as it is, does not exist in the five aggregates, the twelve āyatanas, and the eighteen dhātus. Merely appearing as wisdom, holding it as the deity's body with all the marks, this can be approximated by twelve similes such as illusion and dream, this is the self-nature body of the mind of the Buddhas. The Vajra disciple asked: If there is no body to rely on, the nature of the mind does not exist; without the mind, the body cannot be identified, so it is said in the scriptures. Then, how can the deity's body with all the marks, such as hands and feet, be fully generated by the mind alone? Those who hold onto views of substantiality have neither scriptural basis nor realization, but
