, as well as solitary and continuous, etc., the sutras of the eighty-four thousand aggregates of Dharma, as well as the tantras, as well as the conceptualizations, as well as the three pitakas, as well as poetry, as well as treatises on dance, etc., the treatises that transcend the world can arise correctly. By relying on the treatises, all siddhis can be perfectly accomplished. As the Bhagavan said in the Lankavatara Sutra: 'Great Wisdom, it is like a person holding a torch and saying, 'My wealth is in this direction.' Just as one sees wealth in this way, Great Wisdom, with the fire of sound that distinguishes words and sentences, Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas can be separated from the distinctions of words and sentences, and each follows the object of meaning that they themselves realize.' However, the distinctions of the letters contained in those words and speech, etc., can be clearly recognized, and this is called 'A' (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: A). Because if a letter is not completely combined with 'A' (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: A), then letters such as 'ka' do not exist, because they are finite, so they cannot become words. As the Bhagavan said in the 'Praise of Names': 'A' (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: A) is the most excellent of letters, it is a sacred letter of great meaning, it arises from emptiness, it is unborn, it abandons speech, it is the most excellent of the causes of all speech, it can completely illuminate all words.' Therefore, the Bhagavan said that as the seed syllable of the door of all meditations, 'A' (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: A) is unborn, so it is the door of all dharmas. And it is also said to be a co-emergent letter. As it is said in the Vajra Mandala Ornament Tantra: 'In order to clearly show, 'A' (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: A) is in the center of the heart, indestructible, burning like a lamp, unchanging, extremely subtle, 'A' (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: A) is the supreme and most excellent.' Therefore, all Tathagatas become the lineage of 'A' (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: A), become the cause of 'A' (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: A), and necessarily arise from 'A' (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: A). If one knows that the nature of cessation while speaking is the characteristic of linguistic distinction, then one can teach the Dharma to those who are to be tamed according to the differences in the minds of sentient beings, without relying on sound and non-sound.

Therefore, the Blessed One said in the Lankavatara Sutra: "Great Wisdom, Bodhisattva Mahasattvas should rely on meaning, not on letters. Great Wisdom, if a son or daughter of a lineage follows letters, they will themselves fall away from the true meaning and will not be able to make others understand. For example, Great Wisdom, if someone points to something with their fingertip, but only looks at the fingertip itself and follows it, similarly, Great Wisdom, various foolish ordinary beings, like foolish nature itself, are attached to and fixated on the finger of literal meaning. They are attached and end, abandoning the meaning pointed to by the finger of literal meaning, and do not seek the true meaning. Therefore, those who desire meaning should rely on it. Therefore, those who are attached to the perversion of literal meaning should be abandoned. Meaning should be sought." The Blessed One also spoke of four ways of entering into words in this very sutra: "Great Wisdom, there are four characteristics of verbal discrimination: namely, the word of characteristics, the word of dreams, the word of attachment to negative karma, and the word of discrimination from beginningless time. Great Wisdom, the word of characteristics arises from attachment to the form of one's own discrimination as a sign. Great Wisdom, the word of dreams arises from remembering previously experienced objects, even though there is no object of discrimination. Furthermore, Great Wisdom, the word of attachment to the discrimination of negative karma arises from remembering previously committed verbal actions. Great Wisdom, the word of discrimination from beginningless time arises from the seed of one's own negative karma, which is attachment to the elaboration of beginningless time. This, Great Wisdom, is what is said to be the four characteristics of verbal discrimination." Because of this reasoning, all sounds arise from the letter A (Tibetan: ཨ, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal Chinese meaning: A), therefore they do not change. Change is destruction. Unchanging is non-destruction. The nature of non-truth.
