The Great Commentary. Composed by Paṇḍita Alaṅka Kalaśa. From the work called 'Making the Profound Meaning Extremely Clear'. The extensive explanation of the fortieth chapter is complete. Forty-first chapter. The extensive explanation showing the answer to the question about the realm of the Dharmadhātu. Thus, after the fortieth chapter explained the answer to the question about the realm of the secret fruit, now, in order to show the answer to the question about the realm of the Dharmadhātu, the forty-first chapter is being placed nearby. First, to briefly show its author, it is said, "Then," and so on, that is, after the fortieth chapter was explained. The Blessed One Vajra is the Great Vajradhara. It is related to "the supreme of the Dharmadhātu." How is it? Therefore, "supreme" is said, because it is superior to all dharmas. Thus, after showing its author, now, in order to speak of its actual explanation, the definitive words of the term Dharmadhātu, its branch, are spoken: "The element pervading from the center of all dharmas." "All" refers to the aggregates, elements, sense bases, and so on, or all that is included by consciousness and objects of consciousness. "From the center" means entering within. The nature of how it abides is that all dharmas enter into the center. "Element" means holding its own characteristic. That is called "Dharmadhātu." Thus, after speaking the definitive words of the term Dharmadhātu, now, by way of briefly showing its meaning, the words of the Dharma are explained, saying "all-pervading," and so on, because it pervades all dharmas. Extremely subtle, because it is the very object of the noble ones' activity. All-pervading means pervading everywhere with the nature of what is pervaded. Always appearing means always having the nature of being co-emergent. The five aggregates are form, feeling, and so on. The four elements are the four elements of earth and so on. Objects are forms and so on. Sense bases are the internal entities of the eye and so on. Consciousness is eye consciousness and so on. Truly endowed means endowed with them.

All names are called all dharmas. Explaining means showing. The term "Lord of Secrets" means that secrets belong to those who keep secrets. Lord means the chief, the master of secrets. That itself means that because there is no other's dominion over them, it is Lord, and it is called that. Thus, by briefly showing its meaning, the words of the Dharma are explained. Now, in order to show the words of the realm (dbyings), "those" and so on are spoken. "Those" refers to the aggregates and so on that were shown immediately before. "Dwelling in the center" means dwelling in the center by virtue of pervasiveness itself. "Realm" means holding one's own characteristics. "Pervading" means dwelling in the objects to be pervaded by the nature of non-proliferation. "Not an object of experience" means because it is not an object of experience for the minds of individual ordinary beings. Thus, after showing the explanation of the words of the realm, now, in order to explain by way of example, "Just as oil is in sesame," and so on are spoken. Just as sesame oil exists in sesame seeds. "Just as fire is in wood" means that fire exists in the rubbing board and rubbing wood. "Likewise" means like sesame oil and so on existing in sesame seeds and so on. "In all dharmas" means in the characteristics of aggregates, realms, sources, and so on. "Saying pervasive" is the meaning of saying. "Also" means following and abiding. Thus, after explaining the Dharma realm briefly shown in four ways, now, in order to explain in detail, from the perspective of its own aspects. It is not to be known, just like space. "Immaculate" means because it is separated from afflictions. "The basis of all dharmas" is the basis of all dharmas, encompassing both consciousness and what is to be known. "Supreme" means because it is unsurpassed. If that is so, why does it not appear as such? Therefore, "the grasped and the grasper" are spoken, by the nature of object and subject. "Conceptual" means by various discriminations. "Pervading" means particularly pervading.
