It is an obstacle. The Mind-Only school believes that only pure consciousness exists, independent of external objects. By means of it, the three realms, in which sentient beings become vessels, appear. The sun, moon, and sky, the constellations and the earth, the rivers, oceans, directions, and mountains, these are all emanations of the mind. Up to the peak of existence, all of these three realms, whatever appears in this way, must arise from the nature of mind. Because it is said so. Similarly, the Venerable Vasubandhu also said: 'Mind-only has no external object, because there is no object, it appears, like someone with cataracts, seeing non-existent hairs, moons, etc.' Thus, intrinsic purity also appears as if combined with adventitious stains, like a mirror. Its essence does not change, and with the three natures completely purified, its nature should be analyzed in detail. Namely: the completely imputed, the other-dependent, and the thoroughly established. Among these, the completely imputed refers to the non-existence of external objects, and it is also used to name them, such as 'This is a vase,' 'This is cloth,' and so on. The other-dependent refers to understanding non-existent things as the form of grasper and grasped. The thoroughly established refers to the absence of the nature of grasper and grasped, only experiencing immaculate, boundless, space-like wisdom. The aspects of things like 'elephant,' the wise say that these do not exist, the natures such as the completely imputed, should be known in their exact number. It is said so. Similarly, initially with self-nature, other than self-nature, one should know that oneself is unreal, its selflessness has been shown. Why, in the ultimate truth of all dharmas, that is also suchness. Because it always exists as such, that is indeed mind-only. It is said so. By completely examining the three natures, after knowing mind-only, the nature of permanence, bliss, and the Dharmakaya, similar to mind-only and wisdom, will appear, thereby distinguishing the aspects of liberation and bondage. That is mindlessness, objectlessness, transcendent wisdom, because it abandons the two bad destinies, that is the basis, it is the transformation of the basis.

Sphere. Inconceivable, always good. The body of blissful liberation. It is called the Dharma of the Great Hero. Thus it is said. Here it is said that the concept of "mind-only" does not exist in ultimate truth. Why? Because it knows, therefore it is mind. For a moment, you have blocked external objects. Since that does not exist, what knows, therefore it is called mind? Because there is no object to be grasped, there is no grasper. Therefore, if there is no mind, from where does the appearance of external objects come? Like the son of a barren woman going and coming, and so on. To objects whose nature is unborn from the beginning, with what and what do they appear or not appear? Who says that mind itself is the aspect of meaning? Since meaning is false like illusions and mirages, how can it be the aspect of mind? If the mind is also analyzed by dividing it into parts, it is the nature of emptiness, so how can it be the aspect of its meaning? Therefore, you, who possess intelligence seized by the demon of the habitual tendencies of consciousness, have examined the internal and external aspects by distinguishing between the grasped and the grasper. Since there is no mind, how can the three natures be established in it? From where do the three natures arise in a mind that is merely without inherent existence? It is also not with defilements, for the sake of purifying what? The three natures are to be meditated upon. Arising and so on, on consciousness, other explanations will cease. If one is separated from wisdom, is it not a wrong thought? When the Victorious One speaks of Nirvana as being only in that very thing, then what wise person will realize the remaining falsehood? Thus it is said. That one and only reality is the nature of emptiness, that is Nirvana alone. What the Victorious One said is the teaching. At that time, what remains is the nature of having aggregates, elements, and sense bases, and the appearance of consciousness is also false. Thus, whatever wise person realizes with wisdom should examine it. Therefore, that which is accomplished from the beginning, free from all that is said, that is reality, thus it is said, there is neither the meaning of the aspect of discriminating consciousness nor mere mind-only. Therefore, the grasped and the grasper are completely abandoned. Thus, there is no self in the person.
