The birth of a child from a mother's womb, called seeing and hearing, is not logical. Distant roads and mountains, as well as various places inside houses, are clearly seen as different, so what is seen in dreams is meaningless. Following the treatises of the Great Vehicle Yogacara school, teachers such as Kampa have shown many examples. This is to establish all phenomena of the nature of mind-only. Therefore, this is consciousness with the appearance of external objects, but in reality, it appears as an illusion of objects. The appearance of objects is also of three kinds: appearing as existent, appearing as non-existent, and appearing as inverted. Among them, appearing as existent is like sand appearing as a mirage. Appearing as non-existent is like seeing hairs by those with cataracts. Appearing as inverted is like a white conch appearing as yellow. Thus, by the power of the three appearances, even though external objects do not exist, ignorant people still grasp them as real. The so-called "fruit of aspiration" is that it is the nature of consciousness, because it appears as external objects. It also does not exist, because there is no nature of inner and outer. The so-called "no proximate cause of aspiration, etc." means that desire is aspiration, which is attachment to the appearance of external objects. Its proximate cause is grasping in the manner of grasper and grasped. It does not exist because its nature does not exist. As it is said: "The unreal, completely imputed is existent, On it, the two are truly non-existent, On it, emptiness is truly existent, If there is existence on it, then it exists. Because of existence, non-existence, and existence, This is also the correct path of the Middle Way." Thus it is said. Therefore, meditating on external objects as if they were real, there is no object of focus and it is not truly existent, which is the appearance of consciousness, the conceptual thought that appears as separate things, but it does not exist, because it is the nature of mind. The so-called "mind itself is what appears as separate things" means that mind itself appears as separate things. Object, sentient being, self, mind-only, Separate appearances greatly increase, Consciousness is without object, object is also without it, Without that, this is also without. One is consciousness arising from conditions, The second is taking and enjoying closely, Enjoying, cutting off, and urging on, These all arise from the mind. Thus it is said. The so-called general meaning is repentance in the Sutra Pitaka, etc.

For this reason. For what reason do the Sautrāntika and other schools assert that external objects do not exist and that there is only consciousness? What is meant by aggregates, etc., are the aggregates, elements, and sense bases. These do not exist because they are separate from one and many. Therefore, since the external aggregates, etc., do not exist, there is only consciousness, which is the position of the Yogācāra school. Therefore, since the aggregates, etc., which are to be meditated upon, do not exist, there is only the immaculate, infinite mind, which is like the sky, which is only consciousness. "It is not a real thing" means that because it is impure, liberation cannot be attained. Because it is perpetually non-existent. That is, because the knowable does not exist, the consciousness is also not perceived. As it is said: "If the knowable precedes consciousness, on what does it rely to arise? If the knowable ceases and then consciousness, on what does it rely to arise? If consciousness and the knowable are together, on what does it rely to arise?" It is also said that it is not perpetually non-existent. Perpetual means all times, and there is no mind in the three times. Because the past mind has already ceased, it does not exist. The future mind has not yet met, so it is not called consciousness. The present mind is also connected with the past and future moments, so it is the same as before, and the nature of the three times, the mind, does not exist. "The past is destroyed, the future has not arrived, the moment is with both, where does the present abide?" Thus it appears. Therefore, with this reasoning, analyze the mind, with the three natures of consciousness, with the order of mantras and mudras, make it clear light. This is the nature of the three wisdoms of observation, showing the hidden meaning. What is called the nature of conventional truth, from the clear light, quickly or obtaining appearance, etc., in sequence, like the ritual of Indra, meditating on the illusory body of wisdom that is emanated, like the illusory body of the deity, is approximately represented by the twelve similes of illusion.
