Thus, the five branches are to be spoken of, which have been spoken of before and will also be spoken of in the future. Now, in order to praise the glorious Guhyasamaja itself, which reveals the three letters upon which the explanation is based. Also, when mentioning "as many as" etc., and those to be clarified such as ra, la, etc., and as many vowel categories as there are without which they cannot arise. The meaning is that those all arise from the root of those three letters. The intention is that the wind of life arising from the direction of the navel meets with the eight places, and due to the distinction between vowels and consonants, eight categories will arise. Those also dissolve into the first letters of the categories, and again become four, and then become three letters by the distinction of male, female, and neuter. Therefore, the conclusion for this is: from the letter Hūṃ (ཧཱུྃ,hūṃ,seed syllable) arise ka etc. up to ma; from the letter Oṃ (ཨོཾ,oṃ,seed syllable) arise ya etc. which are located in the middle; from the letter Ā (ཨ,ā,seed syllable) etc. arise sixteen vowel letters. Without vowel letters, consonants cannot be expressed, such as ke, khe, ghe, de, etc. Therefore, by grasping ya etc., vowel letters are also included. Thus, if it is appropriate to express ka etc. first, then how to express ya etc.? Because there is no reason to abandon the order. Answer: Because ya etc. have a lineage and are the main activity category, they were spoken of first. It is also said in the Hevajra Tantra: "By the meaning of Ya, whatever thing, if one desires to accomplish all activities, by the three letters ra etc., one can well enter into the activities of sentient beings." Others say that the glorious Guhyasamaja Great Yoga Tantra's branches, with the number of thirty-two letters, there are thirty-two Great Yoga Tantras, those are also all ending with consonants such as ka etc. For example, the Jñānavajrasamuccaya Tantra ends with ya. The Vajradhara Tantra ends with ra. The Vajramala Tantra ends with la. The Vajragraha Tantra ends with ha. Thus, other tantras ending with consonants should also be understood. The three letters of those are the glorious Guhyasa

Faith alone is the root. Moreover, in order to show that it is not only the root of the Yoga Tantras, but also the root of the twelve categories of scriptures, it is said, "The heap of Dharma of the Great Hero," and so on. The Great Hero is Shakya Simha. There are eighty-four thousand heaps of Dharma, and the glorious Guhyasamaja is the container for all of them, the only precious casket. Abiding in it or arising from it, this is the remainder of the sentence. Therefore, this is the pinnacle of the Tantras. "This is the pinnacle of the Tantras" means that it is the crest jewel of all the Great Yoga Tantras. The meaning is that in order to purify body, speech, and mind, the scriptures spoken by the Bhagavan are condensed in this Tantra and shown in an easy way. Or, all the divisions of mantras and the activities of body, etc., also arise from these three letters alone, so relying on it, the glorious Guhyasamaja alone is the pinnacle of the Tantras. The measure of a heap of Dharma is to fill a bundle of barley with letters written with the tip of an iron stylus on palm leaves, and the weight of the filled bundle of barley that an ox can carry is one heap of Dharma. The number of these is eighty-four thousand. This is just an approximation. The Tripitaka of the Shravaka vehicle is eighty-four thousand heaps of Dharma. The Mahayana is ninety thousand. The Mantra vehicle is one hundred thousand. Now, in order to show that because the meaning is profound, it is difficult for the listener to understand this Tantra, it is said, "Few words, many meanings." It completely shows the two stages. This Tantra has few words, so it is beneficial to listeners with concise minds. If so, because the words spoken are few, the things to be expressed are also few, wouldn't it become unworthy of acceptance? Therefore, it is said, "Many meanings," it completely shows the two stages. The meaning is that all the Action Tantras, etc., and all the meanings of the heaps of Dharma, are gathered here in the manner of reflections appearing in a mirror.
