There is nothing else called "pa," for the sake of accomplishing any enjoyment and liberation, subsequent inference is the valid means. If it is said that the complete transformation of the great elements is the same, but movement and non-movement are unreasonable, then it is also said that, just as the wine produced from the complete transformation of certain grains has the ability to intoxicate, so too will the power of the mind of the body's components born from parents arise. Objects such as trees are not produced in that way, so there is no mind. The complete transformation of the great elements is only the same. That is also unreasonable, because the great elements are matter, and the mind is not matter, so those cognitions being a single cause for each other is unreasonable. If the cause is the same, then everything will become mind or become mindless. If there is no cause, then it will always exist or always not exist. As it is said: Without a cause, not depending on another, therefore it will always exist or not exist. Things depend on, manifesting in a hundred ways. Other reasoned things, their dharma becomes other. Arising from the outside without a cause, the result will not be certain. Thus it has been said. Mind and the great elements are not different, and are the cause of non-difference. If I do not admit that mind is different from the great elements, but say that it is their nature, this is also not true, because mind and the great elements are the objects of different valid cognitions. For example, what is separately perceived as "this" by sense perception is the great element. What is separately perceived as "self" by self-awareness is the mind itself. This and self, the valid cognitions of sense perception and self-awareness, and the objects of measurement, are all mutually different. The "thisness" of phenomena itself is the distinction or the cause of distinction, that is, having contradictory dharmas or the distinction of causes. Therefore, Sugatas, you see different valid cognitions applied to one thing. For example, the thing itself and moments, etc. For example, the direct perception possessing all the limbs.

After ascertaining an undiminished object, or inferring it again, inferring it as the nature of an instant, whether there will also be sense direct perception and self-awareness direct perception for things that are inseparably the nature of arising and mind in that way? It is said that inseparable things are completely determined by direct perception. However, in those places where there is doubt about anything, inference will arise in order to avoid even the confusion of the measurer. For example, for those who say that things are permanent, it is not momentary. You also do not need any confusion, because in order to dispel confusion, another valid cognition needs to be sought, because mind itself is the nature of the great elements. Therefore, because it is seen that different valid cognitions act on inseparable things, mind must be different. The analogy of being drunk with alcohol is meaningless, because there is no simultaneous perception. When the substance of alcohol is not experienced, where is the ability to be drunk? Even when drunk with alcohol, because it is absorbed into the body, the ability to experience appears as one, but it is not alcohol, so there is no simultaneous perception. Similarly, it is the same for the great elements and mind. For example, even without a body, there is mind with a subtle body. A body with mind is seen everywhere. Even in the formless realm, there will be no absence of the body of meditative absorption. The relationship between the basis and the one with the basis, the relationship between the body and mind is reasonable. It is not seen that the destruction of the basis leads to the destruction of the one with the basis, it is not seen that cutting a tree leads to cutting a crow. If that is the case, then how will the terms of living and dying change? It is said that from beginningless time, due to the habits of craving and ignorance, as aspects of the truth of origination, the collection of life and senses moves, due to the power of the karma that maintains life, the aggregates are inside like a jujube, as long as consciousness remains, it is called alive. Because the karma that maintains life ceases, the wheel of life and so on ends, so it is known in the world as death. Consciousness is...
