The perfect altruism is also shown by the meditation and manifestation of the Buddhas. Thus, the generation stage, which is the nature of the three meditations, with the two perfections as the main focus, has been shown. Now, the perfection stage will be explained, which is what should be meditated upon by going beyond the generation stage. Because those with sharp faculties are able to be independent and naturally accomplished, the signs of going beyond the generation stage are as follows: The form of the deity that one desires, which is meditated upon as it is with one's own nature, appears without confusion and clearly, and others also see it in the same way, and during the four modes of conduct of rising, sitting, sleeping, and walking, one sees the pure form of the deity, as well as the eight accomplishments of pacifying, increasing, magnetizing, summoning, extremely rising, stiffening, expelling, and manifesting, which are called manifest actions, and similarly, taking the best medicine, taste, and essence, preparing the elixir of turning gold, preparing the elixir of flying in the sky, the accomplishment of underground, corpses, swords, pills, eye medicine, fast feet, the knowledge of the wheel, and so on, all of which accomplish the benefit of others without deception, and one's own body smells of blue lotus, and there is no dust on the Dharma robes and so on, and there are no lice and insects on the body, and one does not depend on external food, and even if one obtains food, one has no desire, and one is content with whatever fruits and so on, and one has little desire for objects, and one does not beg but gives charity, and one has little stool and urine. With those definite signs, one should know that the yoga of the generation stage has reached its end. As it is said, in the Lankavatara Sutra: From smoke, one knows there is fire; from water birds, one knows there is water. A wise Bodhisattva knows the lineage from the signs. Thus, after the generation stage has reached its end, one should become familiar with the perfection stage. The maker of treatises also said: The generation stage is well established, for those who desire the perfection stage, this is the perfection of

The Buddha said: Like a staircase. Thus it is said. Among them, what is it to be well-established in the generation stage? It is through the stages of meditation, such as the initial union, that one enters the state of complete bodily solitude through the distinctions of the hundred families. The distinctions of the hundred families are: the aggregate of the form aggregate is Vairochana. The aggregate of the feeling aggregate is Ratnasambhava. The aggregate of the perception aggregate is Amitabha. The aggregate of the formation aggregate is Amoghasiddhi. The aggregate of the consciousness aggregate is Akshobhya. Each of these becomes twenty-five through the distinction of the five families. Earth is Buddha Locana, the water element is said to be Mamaki, splendor is Pandaravasini, and wind is said to be Samaya Tara. Each of these becomes twenty through the distinction of five families each. These vajra birthplaces are the supreme mandala of the Bodhisattvas. Thus, each of the senses, such as the eyes, should also be known to be twenty-five through the distinction of five families each. The goddesses of the objects are twenty-five each through the distinction of five families each. The five pervasive awarenesses are the distinctions of the hundred families. As it is said: The aggregates, elements, and sources, with the distinction of five, are made into five, and the Tathagatas bless them individually. From what do the actions of samsara arise? Thus, the five senses and external objects, each of which is also the five Tathagatas, constantly bless them individually, and truly abide in the five wisdoms and the three. Thus it is said. Similarly, it is also said: The families are said to be a hundred kinds, but in brief, they are five kinds. Through the distinction of body, speech, and mind, they later become three kinds. Thus it is said. Through the distinction of the hundred families, the body is completely secluded in the form of a deity, and the yogi realizes that the nature of emptiness of all things is suchness. Why is that? The hundred families that are spoken of, in brief, become five, because they are completely purified by the five aggregates, the five poisons, the five great elements, and the five wisdoms. Those five families also become three again, namely body, speech, and mind. Ratnasambhava and
