It is for the sake of learning the stages, not the generation stage, and there is no fault in this. It should be analyzed in this way: If the five stages are mainly the completion stage, then at this time, is the number of stages the five stages of the yogi, or one? If it is one, then at this time, the task has been completed by the stage of Vajra recitation alone, what is the use of other stages? Moreover, in the case of recitation by eunuchs, etc., it is to show the luminosity. If it is five, then at this time, each one is only speech isolation, etc., not mind purification, etc. The same is true for others. Said: The yogi is one, not five. Because the generation stage focuses on the three samadhis, and enters body isolation through the distinction of hundreds of lineages. Afterwards, by entering the three letters and other stages, one enters speech isolation by becoming accustomed to Vajra recitation. After that, through the purification of the three wisdoms such as appearance, when it is complete, one enters mind isolation. By the stage of self-blessing, one enters seeing the conventional truth. By the stage of manifest enlightenment, one enters luminosity. By the stage of union, one enters the realm of non-abiding Nirvana. Therefore, Buddhahood is attained gradually, so a yogi cannot be accomplished by Vajra recitation alone or any one alone. Therefore, yogis like sandalwood or jewels should practice all five stages. If one is only a vessel for the generation stage like a lotus, etc., then does one practice for the five completion stages? Said: Even in the implicit meaning, the completion stage is also proclaimed, so everyone should practice it. Therefore, the Bhagavan also said elsewhere, as it is said in the Lamp for Compendium of Conduct: The Vajra disciple reported: Ordinary people like us have been attached to various external objects since beginningless time, thinking that there is existence and non-existence, one and many, two and non-two, existence and non-

For those who are not non-existent, and have not engaged in the proliferation of habitual tendencies of nature such as permanence and impermanence, when they learn the samadhi of the stages of the completion stage, should they learn as the stages are, or can those be made to appear separately in an instant by just the oral instructions of the guru? The Vajra Master said: "One should learn to enter gradually, not all at once." The Bhagavan also said in the Lankavatara Sutra: Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Mahamati, in order to purify the stream of the appearance of his own mind, again requested the Bhagavan: "Bhagavan, is the stream of the appearance of one's own mind purified all at once or by entering gradually? How does it become completely pure?" The Bhagavan replied: "Mahamati, the stream of the appearance of one's own mind is purified by entering gradually, not all at once. For example, Mahamati, the fruit of the mango tree ripens gradually, not all at once. Mahamati, likewise, the stream of the appearance of the minds of sentient beings is also purified gradually, not all at once. Mahamati, for example, the vessels of a potter are made gradually, not all at once. Mahamati,

It is also clearly stated in the sutra of ེ་འཛིན་: Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Steadfast Intelligence said this: "Bhagavan, how should one train so that a Bodhisattva trains in the Samadhi of Heroic Progress, without focusing on any object of training?" After saying this, the Bhagavan said this to the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Steadfast Intelligence: "Steadfast Intelligence, it is like this: for example, a teacher of archery or a student of archery first trains on a cowhide. When one is skilled on a cowhide, then one shoots at a wooden board. When one is skilled on a wooden board, then one shoots at a target. When one is skilled on a target, then one shoots at a shaft. When one is skilled on a shaft, then one shoots at a hundred hairs. When one is skilled at a hundred hairs, then one shoots at ten hairs. When one is skilled at ten hairs, then one shoots at one hair. When one is skilled at one hair, then one shoots at a sound-marked object. When one shoots at a sound-marked object, then one shoots without awareness. When one shoots without awareness, then the training in archery is complete. If one desires that, in the dark of night, whatever sound is made by humans or non-humans, the arrow will effortlessly hit the target without fail. By abiding in shooting at a sound-marked object, one will not need to train anywhere else later. Why is that? Because one has trained well before, all targets to be shot will become clear to that one. Steadfast Intelligence, similarly, a Bodhisattva who abides in this Samadhi of Heroic Progress will not need to train in any Dharma later. Why is that? Because one has trained well in that Samadhi itself, all the qualities of a Bodhisattva will become clear. Again, in this same way, one who abides in the Vajrayana and desires to train in the Samadhi of Heroic Progress should also train in this same sequence. This is the sequence: first, train in the thought of the Buddha Vehicle.
