It does not quench the thirst of those deer, yet those cultivations are completely deceptive. Similarly, these things do not do any meaningful work for those who have the cause of a mind that is free from the delusion of attachment to things, and whose eyes of wisdom are closed by the ignorance of beginningless habits. Their nature of manifesting the suchness of the realm of Dharma, that meaningful work is to be realized by yogis, but it is not visible to people like us who have the mirror of consciousness obscured by coarse habits, because we have the defilement of ignorance. As it is said: In the summer, the mirage, how it disturbs and confuses the mind, the deer perceive it as water, but there is no water to drink in it. Similarly, it is also said: The Buddha who observes subtly, because it is subtle, is self-aware. Self-abiding is also like us, but because the mind is coarse, it is not seen. In yogic wisdom, never distance yourself from the thought of liberation, the state of examination is itself the nature, if you see emptiness, it is liberation. Thus it is said. Therefore, by the negation of its nature, things are all emptiness. That is also the nature of negation by non-existence, so there is no attachment to emptiness. Therefore, this is called emptiness, the first gate of liberation. In order to dispel the signs, it is to show the second gate of liberation. What is called cause and effect, cause refers to the nature of the twelve links of dependent origination, namely affliction, action, and birth. The fruit refers to the realm of sentient beings divided into four categories, namely the six realms known as high realms and evil destinies. Their appearances are manifested separately. Attachment refers to the discrimination and speech that these are causes and those are effects. That itself is also unreasonable, because it cannot be established by reason. Because cause and effect are not established, so the agent and the object are also not established, the cause is self-natureless, and the effect is also self-natureless. As it is said: Illusion

Like dreams, mirages, and water moons, these three are not existent. Because of ceasing, because of arising, they are neither different nor non-dual. Those things that are apart from arising, abiding, and ceasing, therefore, for the wise who have no basis, there is no distinction between cyclic existence and liberation. Thus it is said. Whatever does not arise without a cause, does not abide without conditions. What is separated by being apart from conditions? If it is said to exist, how is it understood? What ceases when the cause is exhausted? The term 'ceasing' is closely shown. If something is not exhausted in its essence, how can it be said to cease? By what is it fully known? Because of obtaining dependent arising, the dependent or the born, the unborn, that itself is what the supreme wisdom speaks of. Thus, it does not produce anything, nor does it slightly cease. The path of arising and ceasing is closely shown for the sake of understanding. By arising, one knows ceasing; by knowing ceasing, one knows impermanence; by knowing how to enter into impermanence, the holy Dharma arises. Thus it is said. Similarly, because one truth is not seen as established, how can one who has attained enlightenment see the four truths? Thus it is said. Lord Rinchen Dala also said: Just as a moist water tree sapling is carefully examined by a person who desires its essence, and there is no essence inside or outside, know that all phenomena are like that. Thus it is said. Furthermore, the cause is what is completely conceived by others, such as self, purity, and power. If these are carefully examined, they will not be established because they lack essence. The result is also the same; if the nature of the twenty-four realities is carefully examined, it will not be established because the causes are absent. The absence of these has already been explained. If the cause is not established, from what will the result arise? Because there is no cause, there is no result. Therefore, the emanations manifested by causes such as self and power, and the collections of things that abide within the three realms, which are sentient beings that are vessels for movement and so forth, are not truly existent in ultimate truth. As it is said: Whatever is closely fixated upon as self and phenomena, what does not enter into various forms? That is also the moving and changing consciousness. Thus it is said. Similarly, what is called self is not a thing; how can there be a doer?
