Children whose eyes of wisdom are obscured by the habitual tendencies of attachment to naiveness perceive permanence and indestructibility separately, but in reality, it is only destruction. Because the cause at the time of the fruit's arising is not the same as at the time of the fruit's destruction. Because having essence and not having essence are different, and having capacity and not having capacity are different. If one considers that the unchanging, single entity is the cause, then at that time, either the fruit is always produced, or it is never produced at any time, like space. Because there is production and non-production, and because differences are seen from the earlier time to the later time, and because the same entity decays, it is impermanent. If it is said that seeing a pot breaking is directly seeing impermanence, then at that time, children realize impermanence, but in reality, it is only destruction from the beginning. At the time of pottery making, because another fruit arises, the deluded ones will have the thought that the pot is breaking. Therefore, if the basis and the one with the basis are accepted, because it is impermanent, the self will not be established, this is only existence. The aggregates will also not truly exist, as before, because the nature of the basis and the one with the basis is unreasonable. The aggregates are also the basis, so they are the cause, and the cause is in accordance with the fruit, therefore the self is impermanent. The causes are also definite, so they are not connected with the fruit, so sometimes the self will not exist. At the time without interruption, sometimes it also exists, the dharmas of existence and non-existence are not suitable for the permanent self, like space. If it is a connected relationship like a bowl and the fruit of the emblic myrobalan, then there will be a fault, it will become dust. If it is an aggregation relationship like these threads gathering together to become cloth, then there is no fault, if it is said like this. Then what is aggregation? If it is said to have the characteristics of a thing with parts and a whole, then do these parts produce something that is different or not different from the whole? Because no difference is found in the threads and the cloth, so for the moment...

Faith does not arise. If threads and cloth are different, then only the threads are parts, and the cloth, which has parts, is not. If it is said that cloth exists because it performs actions such as covering, then how can there be a relationship of aggregation if the threads do not exist? Because threads and cloth are not different, and there are no things that are parts and have parts. Therefore, the term 'cloth' is the name given to the understanding that only threads become that way through the distinction of completeness. This refutes the view that 'what is inseparable from the maker is a part.' Therefore, the aggregates are not self. Because a self different from them cannot be found, clinging to it by force, since it cannot be found, is deceiving one's own mind. Here, since the appearance of 'there is no pot here' is not perceived, there is temporarily no self. If it is asked, 'How can there be no self because of non-perception of non-appearance?' do not say that, for the characteristic of contradicting the two valid cognitions is the cause of doubt. For that very reason, it is not reasonable to assert its existence. If it is asked, 'Will reasoning with faith arise from doubt?' Here it is said that there are doubts about meaning, doubts without meaning, and doubts about both. Among these, doubt about meaning is a factor of entering, while doubt without meaning and doubt about both are factors of turning away, like unearthing treasure, conquering a raging river, and a zombie. Therefore, relying on the latter doubts, reasoning with thought only leads to turning away. Even if entering from doubt, it is because subsequent thought precedes it, and because appearance is not perceived, the self is not perceived, that is, the self different from the aggregates is not perceived. Just as fire and firewood are not perceived as mixed, if it is asserted that there is no difference between the self and the aggregates, just as 'this is fire and firewood,' then there will be different faults arising from the same basis for the aggregates and the self, which is permanence. Now, the true meaning should be followed, and thus, the aggregates and the self have the same basis, and so on.
