of difference, is this (mind) its very nature? Or is it something that arises from other causes and conditions? If this (mind) is its very nature, then, when the mind is its very nature, everything is also the difference manifested by its very nature. If it is the nature of the mind, then there will be no difference, because all sentient beings are the same. Furthermore, if there is a difference arising from causes and conditions, then there will be no difference, because other (things) also have the function of cause and condition. Even if there is a cause, the nature of the difference of the cause is not recognized by all sentient beings, therefore, the minds of all sentient beings have not become special. If the cause exists in all (sentient beings), but the combination of generating one's own wisdom is not recognized, then no (sentient being) will exist. If this is the case, then what is it? What cause recognizes its difference? If it is said that recognizing the difference of viewing establishes a special mind, then it is impossible like oneself recognizing oneself, if it is possible, then other (sentient beings) will also recognize it in the same way. Furthermore, it is not from oral transmission or other transmissions. What is going on here? It is impossible for oneself to recognize oneself, if it is possible, then the fault has already been stated. If one recognizes from transmission, then there will also be the fault of infinity. Therefore, how did the Blessed One establish that the mind is special? If other causes make the mind special, then the mind will not be stable at all times as desired, just like pots and so on arising from causes, it will not be a stable nature. Therefore, the mind

I am not, because the cause is merely the condition for making it manifest. Similarly, the nature of things is the very mind that abides in universal appearance. However, because it is covered by the stains of one's own habitual tendencies, it appears as such. Therefore, not all objects of mind and meaning become perfectly clear. For example, for a being with cataracts, even if the mirror is very clear, it becomes as if covered. Therefore, since the cause is also for such a thing, it is not the case that it eliminates the faults of obscuration. Therefore, it does not arise as a special nature. The specialty of that cause is merely the characteristic of eliminating the faults of adventitious stains. However, not all comprehend it. For example, even though it exists, it is not seen, just as the objects in a deep well are not seen and understood by all. Such a cause, even if understood through the lineage of gurus, does not give rise to the fault of having no end. For such an object without end is not harmed by such a fault, because samsara has no beginning. Therefore, if it is not like that, everything will not be accomplished. Then, how will this sprout of white rice grow? If it is said that it grows from its own seed, then what is its seed? It is said that it grows from its own seed. Then, how is it not that everything becomes endless? It is so. Then, from where does that habitual tendency arise? What ༄། །If the mind of existence is of a nature that is clear in all things, then what completely obscures it? If this mind that abides in ordinary sentient beings is not like the object of the gods, then when it is not born from a separate cause other than the mind, then at that time, there must be another cause other than the mind, therefore, the nature of reality cannot be established as non-dual. Therefore, even if that habitual tendency itself arises from the mind itself, then at that time, the habitual tendencies will not be clearly revealed at any time, because the mind exists at all times.

What is it then? Even if there are those who are unborn and unproduced, that is, those who have the ability to act, if things do not arise, then all things and fruits will inevitably fall into non-arising. Therefore, are habits constantly arising, or are they constantly abiding without arising from the beginning? If habits never arise, then they are always unborn, so how can the mind be defiled by impurities at any time, because there is no cause for wildness, so there is no such thing as a differentiated mind and a non-differentiated mind, then how can the distinctions of Nirvana and Samsara, and all the stages of the mind of liberation and non-liberation, be established? Furthermore, if habits are always flowing, then at that time, the distinction between ordinary beings and other beings cannot be established, so there will be no stages and establishments of bondage and liberation. However, habits arise from wisdom itself, but still cling to Samsara and are attached to it, and merely arising from it will not have the fault of always existing or not existing. Because as long as Samsara
