If a yogi abides, by means of the sequence of divine seeds and so forth, the fruits of knowing the past and future and so forth will ripen, this is the oral instruction. If, apart from emptiness, relying solely on divine yoga, what fault would there be? Therefore it is said: Whoever meditates on emptiness, the brave hero will quickly be liberated. Here, "whoever" refers to the yogi. "Emptiness" refers to meditating on emptiness. "Meditating" refers to meditating as a deity. Then he will quickly be liberated, otherwise not, this should be understood. "Hero" refers to the mind, or it refers to Vajrapani. And how is that? With wisdom, one sees the knowable, with the knowable, one examines sentient beings. Here, "with wisdom" refers to with the wisdom of emptiness. "Knowable" refers to the aggregates and so forth, examining refers to making them as its own nature. "With the knowable, one examines sentient beings," here, "knowable" refers to the deity. "Sentient beings" refers to the nature. "Examining" refers to analyzing, if one thoroughly analyzes with the deity's nature, that is, the wisdom of non-duality, then he will quickly be liberated, this is related to the previous one. "The body's impurities should be washed away," in order to explain this in detail, therefore it is said "father" and so forth. Here, "father" refers to the ignorance of self and the self-grasping nature, just as the father is the progenitor of beings, so too, ignorance produces all objects. Here, "mother" refers to craving, just as a mother does not abandon her sons even if they die, so too, craving causes people not to abandon objects, this is in accordance with thought and Dharma. "Killed" refers to destroying them. "Having seized the two pure Brahmins," refers to desire and hatred, this is shown by the metaphor of Dharma. "Seized" refers to binding the wandering. "Having destroyed the king together with his retinue," here, "king" refers to pride, because it is particularly conceited and causes everything. It has also been said: Everything arises from pride itself. "Retinue" refers to the body, which is all of the afflictions and so forth.

It is because of the place. "Established" means following, that is, the aggregates, realms, etc. that follow together with the body. "Having destroyed" means making it invisible with the samadhi of emptiness. Therefore, it is connected with "sentient beings will be purified of defilements." This treatise is also found in non-Buddhists, but it should not be abandoned, because there is no contradiction in all aspects. This is the summary meaning of this chapter. "Mine," etc., refers to making the wisdom of emptiness with the characteristics of peace, etc., extremely clear, therefore it is extremely made. In the commentary on the glorious four seats, "The Cause of Remembrance," the third of the divisions of my seat. The Fourth Division. Now, in order to briefly show the yoga of the deity at the end of emptiness, the fourth division is taught, such as "Listen." "Vajra" means Vajrapani. "Listen" is related to "non-duality." "As it is path" means to press like a path. "Separation from two" is being separated from what is grasped, etc., therefore it is non-dual. These show that the non-duality of the yoga of the deity is the path to great enlightenment. How is it? It says "samsara," etc. Samsara is the ocean, because it is difficult for children to cross. Because it is difficult to endure suffering, it is extremely terrifying. "The enemy of water is full of saints," in which the enemy of water is crocodiles, etc., here it means that the enemies such as crocodiles of desire, etc., are full of saints, that is, good people. "Sentient beings drowning in the center" refers to sentient beings drowning in the ocean of samsara. What are they? It says, "It is said to be the characteristic of liberation." "Characteristic" means what is to be explained, that is, the yoga of the deity. "Liberation" means that which liberates, that is, the path that liberates sentient beings from the ocean of samsara. "Saying" means that all immeasurable Buddhas have spoken.

In order to explain the nature of non-dual wisdom, words such as "the signified" are spoken. The signified is the yoga of the deity. The nature is the act of examining it. Because it is signified by this, it is the signifier, that is, the author, the yogi. As for "consciousness and wisdom," consciousness is the knowable, and wisdom is discernment, which is the nature of the grasper and the grasped of those such as the signified. As for "wisdom sees the knowable," wisdom is the wisdom of emptiness, and the knowable is the aggregates, etc., where those things are done. As for "one should examine the going of the knowable," the knowable is the signified, etc., and the going is its nature, and the examination is contemplation. Its nature is the wisdom of the nature that is free from the grasper and the grasped, and that itself is non-dual. As for "with the mind that examines the going," it refers to the yogi who has realized the nature of the knowable. As for "what will it become? It manifests as desired," words such as these are spoken, meaning that by this path of non-dual deity yoga, one will proceed to perfect enlightenment as desired. In order to explain other benefits of the path of realizing emptiness, words such as "with a rope" are spoken. "Like a mad elephant bound by a rope" means that just as a mad elephant bound by a rope, although bound by the rope, still obtains special enjoyment. Similarly, the yogi who is bound by the rope of samsara is also the same. "The rope of samsara bewilders the essential point," the essential point is the wisdom of completely knowing one's own nature, and bewilderment is entering into it. Who is it? It is the yogi, like an elephant. "Emptiness for a single instant" means that it is merely an approximate metaphor. What is it? It is the inconceivable number of previous lives. "Going from going" means that although one is bound by the samsara of taking and abandoning moment by moment in previous lives, by meditating on the yoga of the deity that follows emptiness, even if one has not achieved perfect enlightenment, when the time of death arrives, one will go to a special realm. That is its meaning.
