I will endure my own suffering and take upon myself the suffering of others. Even if I have to go to the Avici hell, I will work for the benefit of all beings. Having said this, those who possess great compassion and directly realize the suchness of selflessness, even if they engage in the ten non-virtuous actions for the sake of beings, will not fall into lower realms. The venerable Śāntarakṣita also said: "For Bodhisattvas who possess skillful means and wisdom, even the paths of the ten non-virtuous actions can bring about extraordinary results. The fact that an extraordinary cause produces an extraordinary result arises from the difference in intention, and it is not possible to say in all conventional terms that this is not the case. For example, those who are not yogis and do not know the true nature of poison will experience the cause of death by eating poison. However, yogis who truly know the true nature of poison know that such a thing can be transformed into nectar by relying on the extraordinary power of the cause to be taken as nourishment. Similarly, what contradiction is there in the fact that these ten non-virtuous actions of those who possess a mind that is inseparable from emptiness and compassion, who have no regard for their own happiness, and who are extremely afraid of the suffering of others, produce extraordinary results? Just as the fierce fire burned the triple city, and the army of Vishnu destroyed eighteen Akshohinis (Sanskrit, अक्षोहिणी, akṣohiṇī), and the naked ascetics, knowing that even the slightest touch of tiny creatures would cause them to die, still taught their disciples the precepts arising from their dwellings, and any other sages whose minds were burned by the fire of anger, with the fire of curses, burned the king and his fourfold army, and the killing of heretics, etc., will produce suffering such as hell. Their non-virtuous actions arise from the cause of being overly attached to the self and what belongs to the self. Furthermore, If there is a self, then the thought of others arises, and hatred arises from clinging to the distinction between self and others. These two are always
