If, like those, it arises from nothing, then all things would arise from everything. Why? Because the walking offspring, the progenitor, etc., are like illusions. Then, how is it known that sense consciousness is without conceptualization and not with conceptualization? In this regard, for the sake of children who reside in the Sutra school to understand that external objects exist, I will briefly explain how to remember. Things exist in two: the knower and the known. The other three, etc., do not exist. The agent and the action, etc., are also included in that. Because in the same way, conceptualization should also be examined by preceding it with valid cognition. The distinction of the meaning of words is related to valid cognition itself. Otherwise, saying "such a form does not exist here," and "this does not exist here," because of mutually abandoning other places, other times, and different natures, there is no conceptualization of other places, etc. Like the state of deep sleep, the nature of obtaining benefit and abandoning what is not beneficial from the previous one does not exist for ordinary beings. Whatever the eon of place and time, its places and times are the nature of the knowable and the knower at that time. Whatever the eon of nature, all those who do meaningful things, all knowers, those without attachment, etc., also exist in the collection of the knowable. Whatever does not do meaningful things, like rabbit horns, etc., does not exist externally either. The knowable made by conceptualization, which arises solely from the habit of beginningless conceptualization, is not the ultimate truth. There are only two things: the knower and the known, and the two themselves are not the same. If the two themselves were the same, then the knower itself or the known itself would become indistinguishable. But that is not the case, because the two are mutually dependent. If it were the side of the known, then beings would become like the blind and the dumb. If there is nothing other than the knower, then on the side of the knower, because the known itself is the knower itself, there is no seeing of external objects.

It will also change. Those who assert the existence of external objects do not accept such a view either. The two exist in mutual exclusion, because the nature of consciousness does not transform into the nature of the knowable. Consciousness itself is not illuminated by others, but illuminates itself, because it is not the nature of illuminating the knowable. If it were its nature, it would fall into the faults mentioned earlier. If consciousness itself is not luminous, it would become the fault of the nature of the knowable. If it illuminates others, then the other should be an even greater illuminator than it. Furthermore, it either illuminates itself or becomes the illuminator of others. Otherwise, it cannot be said that "this is an illuminator," nor can it be said that "this is luminous." It would become the self-nature of being luminous, because even if it is not considered luminous, it is still an illuminator. Otherwise, it cannot be established, because its illuminator is difficult to understand, and because the illuminator is not grasped, it cannot be established as an illuminator. Because the illuminator is grasped, it can be understood as luminous, otherwise it cannot be established. If understanding it is also understood through the illuminator, it will fall into the fault of mutual dependence. Then, why is it also the nature of things? Because its nature changes the approach of others. For example, when mixed with a red object, a white object will also turn red. Similarly, a black object will turn black, a green object will become green, and so on. The light of a lamp also illuminates, and it becomes a form with light. If one's self is not the nature of an illuminator, then how can it and other non-manifest things become manifest? Because the non-manifest nature of earth does not make a pot in the dark, etc., manifest, therefore, it would fall into the situation of not taking a lamp, etc. If it is said that others are illuminated by taking the nature of other luminosity, that is not correct, because it does not possess the nature of illuminating. Because similarly, for something that is not other, how can it illuminate others, since its own nature is not an illuminator?
