These do not exist. How can one realize with the clear nature of distinct knowledge? It cannot be realized. Therefore, since there is no arising from the knowable, there is no such image of knowledge. Since there is no realization in the form of that knowledge, the realization of the object is established only as a designation, and there is no realization of the object at all. In terms of permanence and impermanence, existence and non-existence, since there is no self-nature and no arising from it, and since it is a distinct nature, one should not think of it as a limb that establishes it as before, because it is devoid of its image. Since there is no self-nature and no arising from it, other relationships should not be investigated, because it is for the sake of near benefit. If it does not benefit, then it will fall into the faults mentioned earlier. If it benefits, then it will fall into the aspect of arising from it, because it is something to be examined later. In any case, the aspect of not being blue is not a limb that establishes another, because it is not. The aspect that is not it is the aspect that arises from it. In this, it is not produced by external objects at all. Knowledge itself appears as the image of the object, but it is not produced by a separate object. Just as the consciousness in a dream, which arises from the stream of consciousness from beginningless time, is the immediately preceding condition, so too, the consciousness is said to be so, because for whatever reason, after closing the door and sleeping at home, closing the eyes and falling asleep, the consciousness of elephants and horses, etc., with a size larger than the house, even without elephants, etc., the image of the object arises. In a dream, it is the image of knowledge that appears, but it is unreasonable for the object, horses, etc., to do it. Even without the function of the eyes, they appear separately. Because for whatever reason, closing the eyes is like a blind person, there will be no separate appearance of form. If it is said that the function of the eyes also has an approach to it, then yes, there is an approach to it. It is not established without approaching it. However, the sense faculty of the eye itself does not exist. For the blind and the sleeping, even if it is not there, how can the forms of blue, etc., in the dream, not appear separately? How can the appearance of death not appear?

It does not exist in dreams or in the waking state, for his body has been cremated by fire. Just as in a small house, the reflections of trees, mountains, oceans, and the sun in the sky, which are on a very large ground, appear separately. But they do not enter or reside there. Nothing appears except when one is asleep. For all beings without defect, the nature of things is similarly regarded as the proximate cause due to the common proximate cause. If there is meaning in dreams, then how can the teachings and so forth by Khenpos and others not be regarded as meaningful? If, when asked upon awakening, all of that does not exist because it is not remembered, then that is not so, because it is not the case that nothing is remembered at all. If there is no meaning in the dream state, then by merely arbitrary analogies, a consciousness empty of meaning will arise in the waking state. Why would a consciousness without cataracts be inverted, just as a consciousness with cataracts is inverted? It would not be inverted. Likewise, why is it that a consciousness that is not deluded is also not empty of meaning? Because it is not deceptive. Because it arises from meaning, it is deceptive. Otherwise, if consciousness arises from meaninglessness, then even with the characteristic of non-deception, meaning cannot be found, and it would become like an inverted consciousness. Moreover, arising from meaning, both following and diverging from meaning actually exist in sense consciousness. Because of this, if there are eyes without defects such as cataracts, there is consciousness, and if there is no consciousness, there is none. When the eyes are closed, although there are form, appearance, and attention, if they are not present, there is none. Again, when the eyes are opened, it is present. Thus, if there is appearance, there is existence; if there is no appearance, there is no existence. Furthermore, even if there are causes such as the eyes, if there is clarity such as a lamp, there is appearance. Thus, forms such as the pot that is in front are present. Although there are appearances and so forth, if they are not present, there is no existence. Again, if they are present, there is existence. Similarly, because there is attention, consciousness arises. If it is not present, there is no existence. Even if there are pots and so forth, they are not present in a state of deep sleep. Again, when one awakens, they are present. To that,
