Through these rituals, secret mantras can be accomplished. Here, first build a mandala in a charnel ground and make great offerings. In the dark fortnight (Krishna Paksha) of the first year, offer oblations with the root mantra, and recite the root mantra three hundred thousand times each month with a rosary of human bones. When the fifth month and so on are completed, offer one-tenth of the substances mentioned in the Karma Vibhanga Sutra as burnt offerings. This is the six-syllable essence mantra. Again, in the third year, recite and offer burnt offerings with the near-essence mantra using the same ritual. oṃ hrīḥ ha ha huṃ huṃ phaṭ (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་ཧྲཱིཿ་ཧ་ཧ་ཧུཾ་ཧཱུཾ་ཕཊ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ ह्रीः ह ह हुं हुं फट्, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ hrīḥ ha ha huṃ huṃ phaṭ, Literal Chinese meaning: Om, hrih, ha ha, hum, hum, phat!). This is the seven-syllable near-essence mantra. Then, in the fourth year, recite and offer burnt offerings with the armor mantra using the same ritual. oṃ hlṛṃ hṛṃ hrīṃ hraḥ huṃ huṃ phaṭ (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་ཧྲླྀཾ་ཧྲྀཾ་ཧྲིཾ་ཧྲཿ་ཧུཾ་ཧཱུཾ་ཕཊ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ ह्लृं हृं ह्रीं ह्रः हुं हुं फट्, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ hlṛṃ hṛṃ hrīṃ hraḥ huṃ huṃ phaṭ, Literal Chinese meaning: Om, hlrim, hrim, hrim, hrah, hum, hum, phat!). This is the eight-syllable armor mantra. Then, in the fifth year, recite and offer burnt offerings with the essence mantra of Vajravarahi using the same ritual. oṃ vajra vairocanī ye huṃ huṃ phaṭ (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་བཻ་རོ་ཙ་ནཱི་ཡེ་ཧུཾ་ཧཱུཾ་ཕཊ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ वज्र वैरोचनी ये हुं हुं फट्, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ vajra vairocanī ye huṃ huṃ phaṭ, Literal Chinese meaning: Om, vajra, vairocani, ye, hum, hum, phat!). This is the ten-syllable essence mantra, which completely purifies the ten perfections. This is the eight-syllable great armor mantra. In this way, recite these six mantras two hundred and sixteen million times over six years, and perform two million one hundred and sixty thousand burnt offerings. In this way, the body of the yogi will be purified. Now, for the sake of the complete purification of the four faces, I will speak of the recitation of the four-faced mantra. Perform the fire offering with the substances mentioned in the Action Tantra. Then, in the first month, use a crystal mala; in the second month, use a pearl mala; and in the third month, use a conch shell mala.
