The two, vowels and consonants, transform into a year. Among these, twenty-one thousand six hundred breaths, counting one inhalation and one exhalation of a human being as one, constitute a day. One sixtieth of twenty-one thousand six hundred is the breath of insects born from the body, called a subtle breath. Six subtle breaths make one 'chu srang' for beings such as insects born from the body. Sixty 'chu srang' make one hour. Sixty hours make one day. The number of breaths inhaled and exhaled by humans and beings born from the body on their respective days is twenty-one thousand six hundred. The combined breaths of thirty days for humans equal one day's breath for pretas. The waxing and waning halves of the month for humans are the day and night for pretas. Three hundred and sixty breaths of humans equal one breath of the gods. Twenty-one thousand six hundred breaths of humans equal one breath of the asuras. The breaths of one year for humans equal one breath of the gods of Akanishta. The total breaths of twenty-one thousand six hundred breaths of humans equal one breath of beings who have nearly reached the realm of neither perception nor non-perception. The order of these six—subtle breath, month, hour, day, year, time, and twenty-one thousand six hundred—applies to beings born from the body, humans, beings, gods, asuras, Akanishta, and the formless higher realms (one day). According to the order explained in this way, from beings born from the body up to the formless higher realms, their respective twenty-one thousand six hundred breaths become one day. These measures of Akanishta, above the four seasons of a human year, are the wheel-turning king and the Dharma wheel of the Buddha. It is said that it revolves for a year, as spoken by the first Buddha. Now, from the perspective of the classification of breaths such as subtle breaths, the previous bodies will be differentiated. Here, after the sun has passed, beings born from the body and others, for twenty-four and a half months, transform into a year with nine hundred and ninety breaths each. One thousand eight hundred one thousand eight hundred breaths make a month.
