pa. Here, since everything does not arise from the proximate cause, if it is asserted that the effect exists from the capable cause, the answer is: Here, your reason is meaningless. If your side obtains the characteristic of being established, then my side will also be established; and if your side obtains the characteristic of being refuted, then my side will also be refuted. For example, fire burns both, not just one. Here, for example, the sound proponents assert that sound is permanent. What is the reason? Because it is not corporeal. What is the example? Like space. Why? Just as space is permanent because it is not corporeal, so too is sound. Therefore, sound is proven to be permanent, if it is said so, the answer is: This is not the assertor, another will say that sound is impermanent. What is the reason? Because it is produced. What is the example? Like a pot. Why? Just as a pot is made by earth, clay, wheel, rope, and the effort of a person, so too sound is produced by the effort of the throat and palate, etc., therefore sound is proven to be impermanent. Therefore, a mere deceptive reason will not establish the result. Whoever speaks in accordance with what is, that is valid cognition, but not from a deceptive reason. Thus, the reason is meaningless. Furthermore, because it contradicts the object to be proven, the reason cannot become the establisher. Here, at the time when the assertion exists, the reason does not exist. At the time when the reason exists, the assertion does not exist. Therefore, whose is this reason without an assertion? Because it is not a coexisting phenomenon. At the time when the letter "pra" exists, the letters "ti" and "jna" do not exist. Similarly, the letters pa, ra, and a, just like the letter "pra," so too are the letters. An unborn or dead son cannot perform actions, likewise, neither can the reason. Therefore, it cannot become an effect by relying on a cause, because it is established from no cause. From no cause means with the cause

The so-called "becoming" is not something else. Therefore, from a cause, it will not become an effect, and from no cause, it will not become an effect. Therefore, the effect is not produced from itself, not produced from others, not produced from both, and not produced from no cause, thus it is established, refuting the agent and the constant agent. Now, refuting the statement of "self," such as "if," etc., here it says, if the "self" is universally present, then how can one experience the suffering of separation from loved ones? Here it says, if the "self" is universally present, becoming the only happiness, then the suffering of separation from loved ones will not arise from it. The suffering of one sentient being will cause all sentient beings to suffer, because the "self" is universally present. If the "self" is not multiple, then at that time, the multiple "selves" cannot be universally present. If this is constant, then when struck by the arrow of desire, how can it become better? Here it says, whatever is constant has no other state, because it is unrelated to change. Therefore, struck by the arrow of desire, how can these ten states of desire arise here? Therefore, it should be recognized that the "self" is not impermanent, because it is completely related to change. If it is related to action, then when sleeping, how can it become ignorant? Here it says, when awake, it is related to the action of the characteristic of the awakened state, and from the word "and," if it is constant, then when sleeping, unrelated to action, how can it become ignorant? Therefore, if one analyzes definitively from one aspect, then this "self" will not be universally present, nor is it the pervasive lord, nor is it constant, nor is it related to action, thus it is established. Now, the scriptures spoken by the Buddha Bhagavan, such as "no-self," etc., here it says, dependent arising dharmas arise from cessation and arise from arising. Therefore, cessation dharmas have no "self," because there is no "mine." Arising dharmas exist, because they will again grasp arising. These can be proven by examples such as Kha-thon, which will be explained later.
