Agniye Om Amukam Sya. Pushtim Kuru Om. After reciting this mantra completely, offer the libation. Then, the mantra practitioner in meditative equipoise should examine the shapes, colors, scents, sounds, and forms of the burning fire to discern auspicious and inauspicious signs. If the fire burns well with a single, focused peak, all actions will be accomplished. If the peak of the unwavering fire burns in two, it is said to yield intermediate accomplishments. If one sees the peak burning in four directions, unwavering and clearly visible, one will become a king ruling over the four continents. If the fire is as white as the moon, like silver, with a peak like vaidurya, with little smoke, clear and without impurities, one will be free from illness and wealth will increase. If the fire shines like moonlight and precious jewels, is as white as snow, or burns like a garland of flowers, it will burn away all sins and grant accomplishments. Or if the fire is like Indra's bow, like a blooming red flower, or like the color of refined gold, like the color of the rising sun, like the color of indranila, one will obtain royal enjoyments and so forth. If the scent is like that of champaka, like the scent of lotus and উৎপল flowers, like the scent of jasmine and upi flowers, it will be very fragrant and cool. With the scents of camphor, saffron, and so on, the supreme place of wisdom will be accomplished. If there is a sound like an elephant's roar, like the neighing of horses and cattle, if laughter and the sound of peacocks arise, one will take possession of the armies of others. If there is a sound like a lute or flute, like the sound of slow thunder, if melodious sounds of conch and copper trumpets arise, one will be endowed with all qualities, accomplishments will be near, and one will obtain perfect bliss. If shapes like the auspicious knot and the sacred umbrella appear, like conch and lotus, like a trident and a bee, like a victory banner and wind streamer, like a sacred vajra, like a precious jewel turning to the right, like horses and elephants, if one sees shapes like a ladle, like the posture of the noble one, if it burns in the shape of a fish, if it burns silently turning to the right, one will obtain the desired meaning and accomplishment. These are all auspicious signs. If the directions shake and the fire burns in all directions, if the peak is divided into three and there is much smoke, if the flames rotate in four directions, if it is very intense and sparks fly, if the fire appears like a snake's tongue.

Odors of decay and putrefaction arise, There are unpleasant odors, The odor of aquatic creatures, Smells like musk and cat odors, Similar to buffalo and dog odors. The odor of rotten flowers arises, If the odor of crows and worms arises, Such various odors, If it becomes very unpleasant, Even the teacher or the chief disciple, Will die, without doubt. Sounds of cracking and creaking in the wood, A roaring sound, like the impact of wind, A hissing sound like fire extinguished by water, If the sound of vajra lightning arises, The desired things will diminish. Like swords, bows, and arrows, Like sticks and stakes, Like drumsticks and bull's heads, These are described as terrifying images. These are signs of inauspicious fire. Therefore, after carefully observing the omens of the fire, if inauspicious omens are seen, recite the mantra of all activities. Consecrate the water of all activities seven times and perform bathing and scattering. Therefore, protect the completely pure fire with the mantra of all activities. Then, as before, give seven libations of ghee. Then again, as before, recite the mantra of all activities seven times to make it very pure. Therefore, on the very pure, faultless fire, with the combination of the ladle and the pouring ladle as before, pour one, three, or seven libations of ghee, or whatever is available.
