Since this is so, the beginning of all tantras, the meaning of all methods, Vajrasattva who unites these two as one and makes them inseparable is union. It is understanding all generation and completion stages as the nature of great bliss through the symbolic characteristics of the four empowerments. Having explained the name in this way, now the tantra will be explained. The tantra is the common depth of the knowable of the three types of individuals and the nature of wisdom. Vajradhara said, "Listen, eighty million Bodhisattvas." Or, this is the self-arisen tantra. First, contemplate the nature of emptiness, and then wash away the defilements of sentient beings. Having briefly indicated this, it is explained in detail that the six objects are equal in the nature of emptiness. To this, Vajragarbha thinks: From the six objects such as form, the six sense faculties such as the eye from which consciousness arises, and since the six objects such as form are empty and non-existent, wouldn't the six objective consciousnesses be impossible to arise like a rabbit's horn? The Blessed One replied: Because there is no grasping, it cannot be analyzed; because there is no object to be grasped, it is not knowable; it is difficult to examine with conceptual thought that is determined by inference. The wisdom that has abandoned both the grasper and the grasped and is non-dual is the very path of union. Therefore, it is not non-existent like a rabbit's horn, or merely a separation. Therefore, the beginning of all tantras is non-dual. The detailed explanation of its secret meaning is that the realm of the Buddhas of the three times, the great secret of union, is like the sky, the equality of all dharmas. Because it possesses the darkness of the obscuration of afflictions, the Shravakas cannot understand it. Because it is entangled by one-sided habitual tendencies, the Pratyekabuddhas who emanate and produce also cannot understand it. All of them, that is, the beings of the three realms such as Brahma, cannot understand it. Therefore, it is called the great secret, the realm of the Buddhas. If the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas do not understand it, then why is it taught? Because with the intention of liberating the Bodhisattvas who are drowning in the ocean of samsara, the characteristics of the four empowerments are

It liberates through its symbolism. Here, what is symbolized is all of existence, both the container and its contents (the external world and sentient beings). The symbolizer is the fourth empowerment. Its nature is the great bliss of union. The symbolizer is also twofold: the three joys are the bliss of meditative absorption, and the wisdom of the nature of bliss-emptiness. The nature of wisdom's container and contents is to regard the nature of knowable things as emptiness, that is, having understood emptiness, to understand the impure nature, that is, the six realms of beings, as the nature of great bliss. In countless lifetimes, the yogi who has perfected realization. This means that in previous lives there was no duality. By becoming familiar with the meaning, one will attain the state of the three kayas as desired. Thus, having explained the nature of the great secret union common to the three types of individuals, now, the knowable aspects of the path of liberation will be explained. As before, the Blessed One taught the nature of emptiness, likewise, having correctly remembered the emptiness of all phenomena with wisdom, within the three mandalas of the body, the mandala of the bhaga, and the mandala of the sphere of reality, in the field of the mandala of the body, one should plant the seed of wisdom, the seed of awareness and bliss. Thus, having briefly explained the path of liberation, now, the extremely beautiful channel—Avadhuti (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning), straight like the marrow of a water tree, clear like a sesame oil lamp, thin like a lotus thread, the mind of minute particles arising from the channel as red as a safflower, that is the order of the lineage, the nature of the channel has been explained. With the two verses "similar to immaculate crystal," the appearance of the mind's clear light is explained, that is, the bindu of bodhicitta residing in the heart. The so-called "deity residing in its center" is not the central channel, but the wind of space residing in the center. What is unclear is matter, what is clear is experienced by awareness. What is divided is the indestructible wind. Remaining at the measure of half-closed eyes is the image of the bindu, experienced by the non-conceptual mind. Thus, with two verses the wind of space is explained, and with two verses the measure of the place of bliss is explained, that is bodhicitta. Possessing the splendor of great majesty, the center of the heart.
