They live by means of things that are not those, etc. Effort is diligence. Wrongness refers to having an unwholesome object. Entering refers to the diligence of application. Accomplishing refers to the path. Abiding very closely refers to the time of application in meditating on the path. By means of unwavering, untrue discriminations, etc., that is, at the time of the actual practice. Straightforwardness refers to having the object of the non-dual suchness itself. Not crooked refers to completely abandoning the wrong path. Therefore, by "with this, it truly joins the noble path," it is truly joined. Truth itself is the suchness that is acceptable to all, the absence of self-nature. That is samadhi. So, is the cultivation of the limbs of enlightenment only for those of the Hearer and Solitary Realizer vehicles who are supremely inclined towards nirvana, and not for the lineage Bodhisattvas? As it is said in the Sutra of the Great Vehicle, the Magical Net of Emanations Asked by Noble Manjushri: "Manjushri, in the future, there will arise monks who, from impurity, will show the mindfulness of the body on the body, up to 'this alone is ultimately true.'" If it is said thus, this is without fault, because Bodhisattvas seek to realize all dharmas in every way, and because they take non-attachment to all dharmas as paramount, therefore, for the sake of being the cause of accomplishing benefit for all sentient beings, they see qualities in samsara as in nirvana, and in nirvana they see that it is not a basis for accomplishing benefit for sentient beings, and they see it as dissimilar to samsara, and merely as the nature of dharma, those who see self and equality in samsara and nirvana also cultivate the limbs of enlightenment only for the sake of discriminating the meaning of non-self-nature. The Blessed One said in the Mother of a Hundred Thousand Verses: "Mindfulness does not grasp, holding non-grasping," and so on. These are merely for manifesting the limbs of enlightenment, and not for manifesting the fruit of stream-entry, etc., or nirvana.

It is also said in the Twenty-five Thousand Verse, "Knowing to abide in the dharmas that are the aspects of enlightenment, this is the time to become fully familiar, not the time to manifest it," and so on. Therefore, by meditating on the aspects of enlightenment, one does not manifest nirvana, but only becomes accustomed to them and makes them extremely compatible. As it is said in that same sutra, "Bhagavan, how should one contemplate the actual mindfulness and so forth?" The Blessed One said, "Manjushri, whoever sees the body as equal to space, this is the mindfulness of observing the body in the body. Whoever does not focus on feelings, mind, virtue, non-virtue, and so forth, to the extent that Manjushri, in this way, one should contemplate the four mindfulnesses in reality. To the extent that one naturally enters into tranquility and contemplates all dharmas without natural distraction, because the object of focus is non-focus, this is genuine samadhi. Manjushri, for whom, in this way, the mindfulnesses and so forth, up to the eightfold noble path, are correctly contemplated, I say that is to cross to the other shore. To the extent that one desires to manifest complete enlightenment with all supreme aspects and omniscient wisdom, one should have faith in these dharmas." And so on. Therefore, these are said to be included within the mind of enlightenment. The mind of enlightenment, which is the nature of wisdom and means to be meditated upon, is also of two types: 'Emaho, for the sake of all sentient beings attaining Buddhahood, I shall manifest unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment.' Such an aspect of aspiration is the mind of aspiration for enlightenment; and the aspect of entering is the mind of engaging in enlightenment. Among these, the mind of aspiration has three aspects: having desire, with the nature of desiring to manifest enlightenment in all dharmas, is the nature of meditating on mindfulness; having intention, with the nature of desiring to practice the six perfections, is the nature of meditating on correct abandonment.

I, endowed with excellent intention, wish to cultivate the thirty-seven limbs of enlightenment, whose nature is the cultivation of the four miraculous feet. These three are said to be the roots of virtue in accordance with the part of liberation of the path of the accumulation of the first practitioner. The part of liberation is attainment, and it is beneficial for that purpose. The entering mind refers to the twelve grounds, one of which is the stage of application, which is the nature of the precious lotus paramita. The ten are the nature of the paramitas such as generosity, which are the causal stages. The last is the stage of fruition, the vajra activity paramita, the realization of reaching the ultimate peak. Among them, there are four stages of application: heat, peak, forbearance, and supreme dharma. The order is such that, just as fire is produced from rubbing wood, the path of seeing is called the premonition of the fire of non-conceptual, transcendent wisdom, because it is the peak of the movement of the root of virtue, because of forbearance towards the supreme worldly dharma, and because it is the supreme of all worldly dharmas. Here, the first two are the nature of the senses, and the last two are the nature of power. In this way, because it becomes more and more excellent, the excellent application is the extreme application, and if there is no obstacle, the path of seeing will arise quickly. Relying on worldly concentration and formless concentration, it is the worldly path of cultivation. The determination part is also the virtue that benefits the support, and determining with non-discrimination is the determination part, which is the path of seeing, and relying on it is the support, which is attainment. It is beneficial for that purpose. In this stage, because the yogi's intention is the main thing, and because it is established as the support of qualities, it is established as this place where defiled intention is practiced. These four bodhicittas, namely desire, thought, superior thought, and the nature of application, are also those that arise from convention, are conventional, and are worldly. The higher bodhicittas from that are meaning.
