Now, what is to be meditated upon is the path. Listen in that way, it is connected with the following. The distinction mentioned therein, "non-duality" means there is no two, the absence of two is non-duality. Because it abandons duality, duality being existence and non-existence, etc., it abandons and prohibits that, meaning "not existent." Then, is it that the mind-only that is separated from two and becomes Madhyamaka is not mentioned in various sutras? It is not that it is not, because in conventional truth, the Bhagavan has taught mind-only, but in ultimate truth it is not existent, because in other sutras it is also proven that it is also without self-nature. As it is said in the noble *Ratnakuta Sutra*: "O Light-protector, if the mind is completely sought, it cannot be found. Whatever is not found is not perceived. Whatever is not perceived is neither past, nor future, nor present. That is completely beyond the three times. That is neither existent nor non-existent, whatever is neither existent nor non-existent is unborn. Whatever is unborn has no self-nature. Whatever has no self-nature has no birth. Whatever has no birth has no cessation. Whatever has no cessation has no separation, and separation has no going. No coming. No dying. No birth. Whatever has no going, no coming, no dying, no birth, has no actions whatsoever. Whatever has no actions whatsoever is unconditioned, whatever is unconditioned is the lineage of the noble ones." Thus it is extensively said. Therefore, what is said here: "O Light-protector, permanent, this is one extreme. Impermanent, this is the second extreme. O Light-protector, similarly, existent, this is one extreme. Non-existent, this is the second extreme. Whatever is in the middle of these extremes is unthinkable, unshowable, not extremely abiding, not permissible, non-discriminating, without a dwelling place. This is to be spoken of as the Middle Way, that is, the individual realization of the suchness of all dharmas." That Dharmadhatu is also this, because one cannot ascertainingly analyze it oneself, therefore it is unanalyzable. Because it cannot be shown to others, therefore it is

There is no place. Because it does not abide in the nature of the internal realms and sources, it is extremely non-abiding. Because it appears like the external realms and sources but is not understood, it is without appearance. Because it transcends the self-nature of the realms such as eye consciousness, it is not consciousness. Because it is not the place of all afflictions such as desire, it is said to be without a place. If, in the Middle Way, there were even a small amount of truly existent entity that is the nature of one's own mind, then how would the manifest clinging to 'it exists' or 'it does not exist,' or 'it is permanent' or 'it is impermanent' ultimately transform? As long as one follows the suchness of the meaning of things, then only proper attention is a place of falling, which is unreasonable. Apart from the nature of examination and so on, how could any other aspect of things become the suchness of things? It does not exist. If there is no self-nature of things in the Middle Way, then the grasping of meaninglessness will also become an extreme, if asked. This is not reasonable, because the definite grasping of 'non-existence' will not arise without the grasping of 'existence,' because the negation without an object is non-existent. In the Sutra Requested by the Holy Dragon King Ocean, it is also said: 'The prior limit is empty, the posterior limit is empty, the things of arising, ceasing, and abiding are empty, in this thing there is neither existence nor non-existence, all dharmas are empty of self-nature.' Thus it is said. The Holy Nagarjuna also said: 'Saying 'exists' is to grasp permanence, saying 'does not exist' is to view annihilation, therefore, the wise should not abide in existence or non-existence.' Thus it is said. In the Middle Way, grasping is also prevented by the Holy Deva: 'Liberated from existence and non-existence, whoever thinks of the Middle Way, this manifest clinging to the Middle Way is not the nature of illusion.' Thus it is prevented. Therefore, this is the extremely profound suchness, not to be examined, because there is no generality, not to be realized by realization. It is not consciousness, because there is no difference, not to be an object of investigation. Because apart from generality and difference, there is also no possibility of a self-nature to be realized, it is extremely difficult to realize. Or, at first,
