This is the meaning of "Tantra." It is also the illusory body of all Buddhas. The so-called "I will speak" means that I, Shakyamuni Buddha, will explain this union tantra. The so-called "Listen" is for bodhisattvas such as Vajragarbha to hear the characteristics of the illusion I speak of, so that future beings can understand. This sentence is the epithet of the Tathagata. This is to first reveal the emptiness of bodhi to sentient beings by preaching emptiness. That's why it says, "First contemplate emptiness." Here, all sentient beings are bound by the six consciousnesses, as well as the objects of grasping and the act of grasping. In order to completely eliminate these, one must first contemplate emptiness, and in order to universally promote it, the nature of all dharmas, the emptiness that possesses all aspects, the invisible, the unspeakable, the non-discriminating, the formless, the selflessness of dharmas, must be contemplated in this way. The so-called "wash away the defilements of sentient beings" means that the body inherently possesses the attributes of sentient beings. It means burning the defilements of ignorance with the fire of emptiness and washing away the defilements of habitual tendencies from past lives. The so-called "the realm of form is emptiness," using this sentence and a half-verse to reveal that the six places are also emptiness, this is the vow of the Tathagata. The so-called realm of form means that the initial meaning has already been established. Therefore, all forms are empty. Similarly, sound, smell, taste, touch, and the realm of mind should also be regarded as empty. The manner of supplication and the Tathagata's reply. What is said here is the meaning of Vajragarbha's supplication. What is the supplication? The supplication is from "the nature of the eye" and so on, until "how does consciousness change in the middle," using these three verses to express the meaning of the six consciousnesses corresponding to the six places abiding. The so-called "how does it change" means in what way does it change. Because of the internal and external nature of form, sound, smell, taste, touch, and

The nature of mind is emptiness. However, children, obscured by sudden stains, due to causes such as grasping and being grasped, by the power of the habitual tendencies of previous lives, arise with mistaken cognitions towards things like vases, cloths, and vehicles. From this, various consciousnesses arise, and also from the senses such as the eyes. It is this ignorance that binds samsara. It is also this that allows those with wisdom, through truly and completely understanding, to completely exhaust delusion and attain liberation. Not only liberation, but also the six superknowledges will be attained. Therefore, the two and a half verses beginning with "formless" are connected to the previous words, and thus convey the meaning of inspiring faith in the Vajra Essence nature. Because consciousness is formless, invisible, unobstructed, without appearance, indiscernible, inconceivable, immeasurable, inexpressible, unexaminable, without conception, without senses, and so forth, it should be regarded as separate from manifest constructs. However, it appears like a rainbow of the senses, because the Buddhas appear as illusory forms. This is the meaning of generating meaninglessness for children. Thus, in the royal sutra, the Noble Moon Lamp Sutra, the Blessed One said: Just as a young woman in a dream sees a son born and then die, she rejoices at the birth and becomes unhappy at the death. Know that all phenomena are similar to this. Therefore, no form, no seeing. No sound. Likewise, no hearing. No smell, no smelling. No taste, no tasting. No touch, and no touching. No mind, and no mental events. Thus, in order to negate the twelve sources, emptiness is merely an approximate representation, meaning the nature of the dharmadhatu. Here, the Blessed One taught: What did he say? In order to show the emptiness to the audience, he spoke the words of reply: Listen to the truth of the path as it is. And so on. Listening means definitely grasping the Vajra Essence. What is definitely...
