The First Chapter. The First Chapter. A Detailed Explanation of the First Chapter. Now, to show the words of the compiler. That is, the Blessed One, in the midst of eighty crore yoga masters, looked at Vajra Heart and smiled, thus it was said. There, "there" means for that reason. In the center of a multi-storied palace of various jewels' nature, the Blessed One, the essence of the enjoyment body, is Vajradhara. Because it possesses the quality of destroying (བཅོམ་པ་), it is called the Blessed One. Or, in order to shower the nectar of the most secret yoga, the garland of light rays reversed from the order of bhaga (藏文,梵文天城体,bhaga,English: auspiciousness), for the sake of generating the three realms, the generator and the generated are related, therefore it is called the Blessed One. "Again" means certainty. Similarly, "bān" means perfectly endowed with a retinue of eighty crore. There, without mentioning excess or deficiency, it is definitely said to be eighty. What is said here is that all sentient beings, from the forehead to the big toe, will become eighty fingers of their own hand. The crown of the head is the measure of four fingers. Therefore, on each finger dwell countless numbers of yoga masters. What is that? It is the nature of yoga in which the outgoing and incoming breaths are bound. Therefore, because it possesses yoga, it is a yoga master, like a father and son. Yoga is the nature of self-awareness, the meaning of clear light wisdom. Therefore, it transforms into nature, and not into anything else. That also causes suffering to children, because they are separated from cause and effect, they fall into calling out and so on. What are cause and effect? The ten perfections, such as generosity, are the cause. The result is the nature of self-aware wisdom, emptiness and compassion inseparable. Thus, the pure natures are to be shown. The nature of the image is the Blessed One, the teacher. Therefore, the Dharma like an illusion, is neither true nor false, various stable and moving things, arising from the cause of one's own mind, because this illusion is not understood, the six realms themselves revolve in samsara. That

Whoever recognizes illusion with wisdom, becomes a Buddha and not otherwise. Thus, among the assemblies of yogic masters, "observing the Vajra Essence" means that Vajra is the indivisible wisdom. Essence is knowing that, meaning "knowing completely." Observing means focusing on objects and subjects, the grasped and the grasper, and so on. That which smiles due to the power of compassion in observing sentient beings is called that. "Immediately after smiling" refers to the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly complete Buddha, who abides in and possesses the selflessness of phenomena, and manifests the object of Dharma by truly establishing it within, which is the meaning of smiling. Here, bodhisattvas, for the sake of benefiting sentient beings, do not enter into various births through emanated bodies until they are attached to the selflessness of individuals. Therefore, the Tathagatas establish the selflessness of individuals through the power of one and many bodies. Why? Because with unconditioned compassion, they also teach the Dharma according to the inclinations of sentient beings. Therefore, the statement "There is no variety in the Tathagata" is stated in some scriptures. Thus, emptiness and compassion are inseparable, and are called Bodhicitta. The collection of wisdom and skillful means is called great compassion. "Rising from one's own seat" and so on, refers to the yogi of wisdom and skillful means, rising from the presence of the root Vajradhara like a magic trick and an image, or like a star from the sky. "Draping the upper garment over one shoulder" means that the upper garment is the Great Vehicle of mantra, which is supreme among the three vehicles. Its draping is entering into that. One can also add "remembering and draping." "Placing the right knee on the ground" means that the right knee is at the time of first showing the path. The knee is the mind that strives to enter into the Great Seal. That which is placed on the ground means that the basis of all phenomena is ignorance, because it arises from that. Placing it on the ground means making it of one taste by subduing it with that. Already
