It is not apparent. By this reasoning, the Blessed One has taught the meaning of what is not knowable. "Difficult to realize" means difficult to comprehend. Furthermore, it is said: "One knows from one's own merit, one should closely rely on the lineage of gurus." Thus it is. Similarly, "those who speculate" refers to those who are filled with having seen many books. Or, those who are attached to dry speculation, are ignorant, consider themselves wise, and have manifest arrogance, cannot explain it, and they cannot realize this, that is the meaning. The great secret of all Buddhas is like the sky. This is to show that not only ordinary people, children, and unintelligent people cannot do it. Therefore, it is said "of all Buddhas." Here, from each moment of discriminating consciousness, various natures manifest. From that, the pure minds of sentient beings born in various forms become Buddhas, which is a term of close approximation. Those who do not understand consider the practice of mantra to be unrelated to secrecy, that is the meaning. "Like the sky" means similar because it is pervasive, it means the wisdom of clear light. "Like" means similar to the cause that arises from that, it refers to the meditation instruction that is being explained is called that. Or, the nature of cause and effect that is equal to the sky is the great vehicle of mantra. That is also because the cause is closely approximated in the effect, so the nature of the effect arises from this. Therefore, that suchness, like the object of focus, is difficult to realize, that is the meaning. Thus, those who delight in the Great Vehicle, the Buddhas, that is, the meaning of secret and hidden. The so-called "listeners" and so on are easy to understand, the listeners and solitary realizers and all those people do not understand, it means that those who are separated from previous aspirations do not understand and do not remember. In the saying "the great secret is the realm of activity of the Buddhas," "Buddha" refers to sentient beings whose aspirations are completely fulfilled and who have perfected the accumulations, thereby attaining perfect enlightenment as Buddhas, not others. What becomes his realm of activity is that wisdom is secret and hidden, self-realizing wisdom is not the realm of activity of the path of words.

Therefore, it is completely pure in its own nature, possessing qualities such as the perfection of the ten pāramitās, abiding in the conventional truth that transcends the world. Likewise, for those who are constantly familiar with it, it is not an object of experience, because it is inexpressible, and therefore cannot be traversed. Because it is its very nature, it is difficult to conceive. Because it abides in immutability, it is difficult to examine. The statement that it is formless is not so. Why? Because of the reasoning that says, "From the terrifying ocean of samsara, with the thought of deliverance." It abides in the midst of embodied beings, and it speaks of the nature of deliverance. This means that self-awareness wisdom abides in the midst of sentient beings' bodies. Meditation, as it is said in the explanation of the nature of that which has reached the ultimate limit, "The signified, the signifier, and the nature, the consciousnesses are considered wisdom," and so on. The signifier is that which makes the stable and moving things unmoving through the combination of life force, downward expulsion, and binding. Here, the stable are the five aggregates, and the moving are the ten winds, such as the life force. Dependent on that, various names arise, and all the fleeting conceptualizations of worldly and transworldly phenomena arise. By placing their signified into the Avadhūti (Sanskrit: Avadhūti, अवधूति) and stopping it, one obtains results such as the common cause. By showing the distinctions of the four wheels that are being explained, one can also obtain the results of karma mudrā, dharma mudrā, wisdom mudrā, and mahāmudrā. Thus, the signified body is the nature of the three realms. The nature is how one sees the signs through the stages of meditation by which one attains samādhi. Similarly, here too, because of seeing, through the power of the emanations of the Buddhas, like the tip of a lamp flame, it will arise dependent on external phenomena. Through that action, for the benefit of sentient beings, by the power of past aspirations, it now possesses these qualities. The statement "consciousness thinks as wisdom" means that these qualities of all phenomena are the enjoyment body.
