The fourth chapter. That which is called the Great Samaya Hero is the essence of mind, namely Vajrasattva, with three faces and six arms. The essence of joy is indeed the Joyful Vajra, with eight faces and sixteen arms. Such is the meaning of 'listen to the explanation of the meaning.' Because it is indivisible, it is explained as Vajra. That is to say, it is indestructible and cannot be split, or body, speech, and mind are indivisible, or it possesses the five wisdoms. 'Hero, the three existences are one' means the hero is Vajrasattva. The three existences are the three realms. Thus, the three realms are known to be the essence of body, speech, and mind, and oneness is knowing that their essence is without inherent existence. 'By the union of this wisdom.' That is, such wisdom unites with the nature of reality, that is, it unites with Vajrasattva, and unites with the form of the upper one, with one face and two arms. 'The taste of great wisdom is complete.' That is, because the wisdom like a mirror and so on are spontaneously accomplished, it is said that the taste is complete. In another way, it is said that the taste of the great bliss of the wisdom of the Joyful Vajra is shown and complete, that is, it is united with the essence of Amitabha, with four arms, and that is said to be the great hero. 'Always approaching the samaya.' That is, samaya refers to the samaya of eating and drinking, but here it leads to approaching the essence of wisdom samaya, and in reality it unites with Vajrasattva, with three faces and six arms. There it is called the Samaya Hero. 'Great compassion is joy, and it is explained as Vajra wisdom.' That is, compassion refers to that which pervades all, the means of compassion and joy, that is, it unites with the father, and that is endowed with the joy of great bliss. The Vajra wisdom that is shown unites with the mother, and the mother refers to wisdom, and in reality it is the tantra of the inseparability of means and wisdom. Such a cause related to means and wisdom is the meaning of what is said. If one asks, are the Tattvasamgraha and so on not wisdom tantras? However, they show that the aspect of means is greater and the aspect of wisdom is smaller, while here it is means and wisdom.
