When the habitual tendencies of all phenomena associated with defiled afflictions are completely exhausted, and the various consciousnesses that appear as places, bodies, and enjoyments cease, all of these abandon the nature of the alaya-vijñana and fully grasp the nature of the unpolluted realm of reality. This very unpolluted realm of reality is the dharmakaya of the Buddhas. When it is attained, one obtains the sambhogakaya and nirmanakaya by relying on it, which is the established tenet. With this established tenet, the Prajñaparamita itself should be cultivated as the cause of Buddhahood, that is, with the distinction of two kinds of meaning, it truly becomes the wisdom of non-substantiality, because it is determined that the two do not exist. The two cause false appearances to vanish, and only appear as boundless and radiant. Thus, if someone thinks that those who cultivate mantras, mudras, seats, palaces, and so on, which have the forms of Heruka and Yoginis, are involved in elaboration and are inverted, because they give rise to the cycle of afflictions, and do not give rise to liberation. In order to clarify this, it is said, "Liberation is by the thing itself," which means that the thing is what makes it extremely abiding, and is able to fully attain all the Buddha's teachings. One who possesses great compassion is liberated by the six paramitas themselves, and therefore is called great compassion. Liberation by the Prajñaparamita alone is to quickly abandon afflictions and become an Arhat. Therefore, one will tend more towards the Bodhi of the Shravakas, and not towards the Bodhi of the Buddhas. A Bodhisattva who possesses great compassion is one who accomplishes the supreme benefit of sentient beings, and generates the aspiration for unsurpassed Bodhi, and not for inferior ones. This is also liberated by the six paramitas themselves, and not by one. If liberation is by the six themselves, then what will the five become at that time, and what will the sixth do? To this, the Buddha said, "The bondage of things," and so on. Here, the word "thing" refers to the five paramitas, because they are the main factors in making it abide and attain.

The very binding of things is the very act of abiding. Those who are bound by it and liberated also abide by the power of those very things, for the sake of all beings, in the continuum of the three bodies, until the end of the sky. Fully knowing its entity is knowing the ultimate truth, which is none other than the Perfection of Wisdom. Being liberated by it and awakening all the veils of habit by it is to completely exhaust all the defiled dharmas together with their seeds. Such a state is nirvana, and it is said to be non-abiding nirvana because it does not abide in either samsara or nirvana. What is said to be summarized is "things" and so on. "Things" refers to the virtue arising from the five perfections. "To be meditated upon" means to diligently generate it in one's own mind-stream and to possess it through the power of meditation. "By fully knowing the absence of things" means by the Perfection of Wisdom that fully knows the absence of inherent existence in the nature of the apprehended and the apprehender. If one does not regard anything as a thing, then by being liberated from that, one falls into the enlightenment of the Hearers; and if one does not fully understand, one remains in samsara itself. Both are ignorance. A Bodhisattva endowed with wisdom does both, and therefore is called wise. This summarizes what the Great Vehicle should do and distinguishes them. Since the Great Vehicle is also summarized by the method of mantra, therefore, in order to show that very pleasing Vajra even more clearly, it is said, "Thus," and so on. Heruka means mentioning the main deity, and also includes its signs, seat, palace, and so on, as well as the retinue, just as saying the king has passed away. The meaning here is that all the virtuous dharmas to be meditated upon in the Great Vehicle, being of one taste with complete enlightenment, are the lord of the mandala, and the distinction of complete enlightenment is the mandala. It is the very act of displaying the mandala for the benefit of beings. In order to quickly attain the bliss of the three bodies, these three should be meditated upon here. Here, the remaining virtues are this very meditation.
