And should not be abandoned. Because all the maras cannot conquer, the fifth ground is called the Difficult to Conquer. The bodhisattva who dwells there constantly abides in meditation, so the perfection of concentration increases. After abandoning bad habits, the bodhisattva should remain on that ground until the cause of good habits is found. When it is found, one should enter the sixth ground, Manifest. The bodhisattva who dwells there constantly meditates on arising from the assembly of causes and conditions, so the perfection of wisdom increases. Because all the dharmas of all the tathagatas are manifest, the sixth ground is called Manifest. One should remain on that ground until the cause of all dharmas is known. When it is known, one should enter the seventh ground, Far Gone. The bodhisattva who dwells there knows all causes and does not abandon them, so the perfection of skillful means increases. Because one has entered the path of skillful means and gone far, the seventh ground is called Far Gone. How long should one remain there? One should remain there until one has not found the benefit of sentient beings without cause. When it is found, one should enter the eighth ground, Immovable. The bodhisattva who dwells there obtains all the accumulations of merit without effort, and accomplishes the benefit of all sentient beings without affliction, so the perfection of aspiration increases. There is no cause, no effort, and no trembling. Because there are none of these, the eighth ground is called Immovable. The bodhisattva who dwells there should remain in the place just mentioned until he is unable to separately teach the dharma taught by the tathagata in the language of the common people (Sanskrit: Prākṛta, Romanized Sanskrit: Prākṛta, Literal meaning: common language), and so on. When he is able to teach, he should enter the ninth ground, Good Intelligence. The bodhisattva who dwells there increases the perfection of power because of the great power of wisdom. Because he is able to teach the dharma through all the doors of the path, and there is no obstacle, and he obtains excellence, the ninth ground is called Good Intelligence. The bodhisattva who dwells there, the buddha-field of the tathagata appears.

Unable to manifest as minute, unable to manifest many retinues, unable to manifest countless manifestations, etc., unable to manifest, until unable to ripen the accumulations of merit of sentient beings, one should remain there. Once able, one should enter the tenth ground, the cloud of Dharma. The Bodhisattva who abides therein, for the sake of manifesting, for the sake of ripening sentient beings, for the sake of bestowing wisdom to pervade sentient beings, the Prajñāpāramitā will increase. Because from the cloud of the Tathāgata's teaching of the Dharma, the rain of Dharma is poured down upon immeasurable realms of sentient beings, the tenth ground is called the cloud of Dharma. The Bodhisattva who abides therein, until there is no obstruction to the dhāraṇīs, etc., and until his wisdom cannot be obscured by others, one should remain in that ground. Once unable, one should enter the eleventh ground, the Buddha ground, Samantabhadra. Even a single aspect of the qualities of that ground cannot be expressed by the Tathāgata, let alone all the qualities? That ground is called the place of assembly of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. It is said that it is eternally abiding. The lord of the ten grounds is called Vajrasattva. The protector is called the body of Heruka. "Not other" means that it is not indicated by external Jālandhara and so on. The day of assembly of the yoginīs should be revealed. Therefore, it is said, "In the direction of the pretas." That is the meaning of the new moon. Or it is called the secret direction. Why is it called the secret direction? Because it is not the realm of activity of the Śrāvakas and so on. Fourteen refers to the Tathāgata ground. Eight refers to the eighth ground, the immovable ground. Now, the food to be eaten at that assembly is to be revealed. The royal banner refers to the field hanging on the tree. Stabbing refers to stabbing and killing with swords and so on. Seven rebirths refers to being born as a human being for seven lifetimes, and dying by oneself is called seven rebirths. By diligently generating compassion, etc., for harming the Three Jewels, etc., and
