For the yogi, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas appear, teach the Dharma, and show signs. In what form do they appear? In the form of yoginis, etc. "Or, the hand with the garland is shown." This phrase means that through this gathering, the father yogi and the mother yogini are shown to meet directly. "After the garland is completely released." This phrase indicates the sign. "External" means not being in a realm of action without vows. "Gathering" means the gathering of yoginis. What do the gathered yoginis do? They throw flower garlands at the yogi who is endowed with merit. Then, they summon the yogi and repeatedly say, "Please abide in our vows!" The yogi also repeats in this way, "However the yoginis speak, all of that I must do." This means that whatever the yoginis say, I will do. For the yogi who likes external places, twelve seats and so on are shown. With what words are the twelve shown? They are shown with "seat and nearby seat" and so on. Now, the chief places of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas will be explained. These are the twelve grounds: the ground of practice with the intention of "may all sentient beings attain Buddhahood," and the first ground, the Joyful Ground, the second ground, the Stainless Ground, the third ground, the Luminous Ground, the fourth ground, the Radiant Ground, the fifth ground, the Very Difficult to Train Ground, the sixth ground, the Manifest Ground, the seventh ground, the Far-Reaching Ground, the eighth ground, the Immovable Ground, the ninth ground, the Ground of Good Intelligence, the tenth ground, the Cloud of Dharma Ground, the eleventh Samantabhadra Ground and the twelfth. Generating samadhi, becoming familiar with dharani, knowing the Dharma, knowing the meaning, knowing Prakrit, and knowing what others ask without having to think. To become familiar with these is called the ground of practice with the intention of "may all sentient beings attain Buddhahood." Previously not knowing Suchness, later knowing Suchness.

Because of joy, the first bhumi is called Extremely Joyful. In this bhumi, one benefits others as much as oneself. The perfection of generosity also increases. In this bhumi, the bodhisattva, having understood reality, cannot tolerate even the slightest thought of generating sin, so he abides there. Having been able to tolerate it, one enters the stainless state of purity. Having entered, one will be free from all the faults of sentient beings. The perfection of discipline also increases. Because of being free from the defilement of non-discipline, the second bhumi is called Stainless. The bodhisattva who abides in this bhumi should abide there until he has not attained worldly samadhi and is unable to grasp the meaning after hearing it. Having entered this bhumi, one can benefit beings and endure suffering. Therefore, the perfection of patience increases. By the power of samadhi, the immeasurable realms of the world are illuminated by light, so the third bhumi is called Illuminating. The bodhisattva who abides in this bhumi, even after attaining worldly samadhi, should abide in the aforementioned bhumi until he is unable to show the Dharma, including the aspects of enlightenment, to his retinue, and until he is unable to abandon all miserliness. When one is able to do so, one enters the fourth bhumi, Blazing Wisdom. The bodhisattva who abides in this bhumi should not abandon the aspects of enlightenment in order to constantly abandon the conceptual thoughts of the mind. Therefore, the perfection of diligence increases. The bodhisattva who abides in this bhumi possesses the power to burn the wood of afflictions and illuminates the light of the aspects of enlightenment. The bodhisattva who abides in this bhumi should meditate on the four noble truths, and should abide in the aforementioned bhumi until he does not turn back from samsara and until he is unable to practice the aspects of enlightenment with skillful means. When one is able to do so, one enters the fifth bhumi, Extremely Difficult to Conquer. The bodhisattva who abides in this bhumi, practicing the aspects of enlightenment with skillful means, is extremely painful.
