That (the second). Again, in order to teach, it is said, "Although I am an ocean of faults, I do not tolerate any fault of anyone else." In this regard, firstly, oneself is the fault that makes the body and mind continuum bad, the afflictions such as desire, and the non-virtuous actions arising from them, as vast and extensive as an ocean, even so, for any tiny fault of others, even if it is just a little bit or a drop, I do not tolerate it, I cannot bear it, my mind is truly strange. Furthermore, "Although patience has perfect qualities," etc., patience is not only the antidote to anger, but also has limitless perfect qualities that transform into beauty, etc. Or it can also be said, "Although the patience of others has perfect qualities," others who possess qualities also have perfect qualities of patience for patience and discipline. Because of what is not patient, it is very strange here. The meaning is, for what reason, although the qualities of patience are limitless, even a little bit cannot be relied upon and endured, this is truly the mind of my ignorant nature is too strange, it is truly incredible. The word "also" is to express a contradictory situation, although it is an ocean of faults, it does not tolerate faults, although the qualities are limitless, it does not rely on qualities, this is the reason for the contradiction. In order to teach the state of the arising of faults, just like rising in the sky in summer, the clouds of afflictions in my mind, repeatedly come and go, the shameless and lazy me is too bad. Just like the clouds of rain gather and rise in the sky in summer, and then rain falls, the collection of afflictions such as desire suddenly appears in the emptiness of my mind, similar to the nature of clouds, so it is like a collection of clouds, that is, many. How does it appear? The meaning is "repeatedly coming and going." Constantly repeatedly coming and going to each other, just like clouds rise and flow in the sky, and bring down the flow of water.

Just like that, afflictions always arise and increase in my mind, and cause a rain of sins to fall. Therefore, knowing that I possess and generate such afflictions, yet abandoning the sense of shame, not relying on diligence to eliminate afflictions, but being controlled by laziness, is truly wicked and should be condemned. This is to show that it is incompatible with the samadhi that is the means of eliminating afflictions. If the cold of afflictions should arise, even if one is delighted to conquer it with the fire of samadhi, it is in vain. And so on, here afflictions refer to desire and so on. It becomes the cause of harm, such as destroying morality, in the way that it afflicts body and mind, like a strong cold. Just as when the body is stiffened by the cold and one cannot strive, so when one is afflicted by the cold of afflictions, one cannot enter the noble path, so it is like the cold. When it arises from the cause of ignorance, if it must be removed from the mind, then what removes it? It is samadhi, by cultivating the antidote, making the mind one-pointed. What kind of difference is there? That is, to conquer with fire, meaning that the fire of wisdom arising from the drill of samadhi can overwhelm and defeat the cold of afflictions. Because the antidote to cold is fire, they are similar in dharma. Even if one is delighted to do so and strives, what fault will occur? The dimness of sleep and drowsiness becomes comfortable, and the desire for bedding also increases. Here it says that sleep is what involuntarily gathers the mind. Drowsiness is what makes the mind dull and unable to clearly grasp the object, and these two are the cause of ignorance, so they are dim. Its increase means that it arises powerfully and is able to overwhelm the clear mind. Therefore, the desire for bedding also increases. It means that due to the power of sleep and drowsiness, one cannot focus on the object of samadhi, but wants to lie on a comfortable mattress no matter what.

English

It becomes lazy and grows even more. Since one cannot rely on the antidote to afflictions, what will happen? It is said, "My mind is helplessly controlled by the noose of desire." This means that my mind, being separated from samadhi, is controlled by afflictions. "The noose of desire, helplessly does what it does," where desire is the manifest attachment to objects. It itself is a firm bond, like a rope, it binds the mindstream uncontrollably, unable to escape control, so it is said "helplessly does what it does," meaning it becomes powerless. "The fire of hatred burns, pride destroys," means that the fire of suffering that pervades the mind burns and exhausts the virtues that are in accordance with the noble path that exists in one's own continuum. "Pride destroys" means that pride and arrogance, etc., fill the mindstream with arrogance and separate it from the wealth of the noble ones. Is that all? No. "All faults, arrows, spears, and weapons, completely filled, the powerless one triumphs," meaning that it is both a fault and everything, so it is "all faults," that is, the collection of other afflictions and near afflictions other than the aforementioned afflictions. These afflictions themselves are like arrows because they are sharp and can pierce the subtle parts of the mindstream. Because they pierce in a coarse way and cause serious harm, they are like spears. Whatever kind of weapon it is, it completely fills the mindstream, just like a weapon hitting the body leaves a scar, lurking like an offering to outsiders, the collection of completely entangled afflictions pervades the mind, therefore one becomes powerless to practice the antidote, very depressed, unable to practice the noble path, or becomes like pride and intoxication. In order to show the other faults caused by the afflictions controlling the mind, "Memory is found and bound, quickly frightened, completely destroyed, completely depressed, deception and falsehood, the actions of the vile demon."
