If one wishes, at that time, bound by the fetters of those misdeeds. Having said this, at whatever time or instant, whenever it disturbs my mind, one should prevent it from that (disturbance) and create a gap between the mind and (afflictions) with antidotes. Even if one wants to abide in the practice of patience, at that time, the enemy of evil nature, whose nature is evil and whose close actions of doing various harms are various, those that become fetters of the mind, the mind is again bound, tightly bound, so one will be under the control of anger. This is the meaning to be expressed. If that is the case, even if one puts those close actions aside and calms the mind, is that okay? That is not okay, because That which is blocked and completely bound is powerful, The fire of anger completely dries up, devoid of love. Having said such things, etc., the fetters of anger arising from those evil close actions, if strictly blocked and completely bound, due to excessive endurance, the continuum of the mind cannot abide and will become under the control of anger. Therefore, the intense anger arising from that, because it causes suffering to oneself and others, is like fire. That fire causes one to be separated from the moisture of the noble Dharma and the mind, so it will dry up the continuum of the mind. Like that, the mind will be separated from love, without compassion, and will become separated from the sublime conduct, patience, and joy. This is the meaning to be expressed. Like that, how does the mind devoid of love abide? Like the unlovable, the poisonous one to look at. Having said such things, etc., how, this is as a metaphor: unlovable, the poisonous one to look at. It speaks of a snake, which cannot be killed merely by looking at it.

English

It is the thought, the state of mind is like a tree. The so-called virtues refer to the three trainings, etc., which are the collection of actions that cause higher rebirth and definite goodness, and these actions abandon and discard (evil deeds). This indicates that if my mind is filled with tormented anger, like a snake, then it is like a poisonous container, good dharmas will not exist, and they will be abandoned. This is its meaning. To further illustrate that the mind, having faults, will not become a vessel for the Dharma, it is said, "The rays of the sun," etc. Connect it with "The rain of the sacred Dharma will not fall on my mind." What is the situation? It is said, "Like a stone scorched by the rays of the sun." It is like rain falling on a stone slab that has been scorched and roasted by the intensely hot and sharp rays of the summer sun. The similarity is that even if a stream of rain falls continuously on the surface of the stone, there will be no growth or sprouting, etc., and the inside will not become moist, only the outside will become slightly moist, and this will also disappear immediately. Similarly, for a mind that has been scorched hundreds and thousands of times by the multitude of afflictions, like the rays of the sun, there is no point in raining down the Dharma. What else is it like? It is said, "Like ashes that have been completely dried and turned into powder." It is like ashes that have been completely scorched by the rays of the sun and dried from all sides, turning into powder and existing very coarsely. Just like rain falling on a dry and rough pile of ashes, it will not produce anything special, so it is meaningless. However, if a large amount of rain falls, it will only become slightly moist, and it will remain like that at other times. Similarly, my mind is bound by the multitude of evil discriminations from beginningless time and has become dusty, so there is no point in raining down the Dharma. What else is it like? It is said, "Like a road covered with piles of sand." Piles of sand refer to a large amount of sand, meaning a lot. Covered with sand refers to all

The land is covered and obscured, and in such a direction of the road, it is meaningless to rain. 'Like' means an example, just as on a road covered with sand dunes, even if a continuous rain falls, it will not serve any purpose and will soon return to its original state. Similarly, my thought is that the rain of Dharma is meaningless. It means that on the basis of my mind being covered with sand-like ignorance and desire, it is meaningless to rain the true Dharma. These examples show that just as rain falls on good farmland, considering the fruit, it will cause the collection of grains and fruits to grow and prosper, so it is meaningful. But on the back of rocks, piles of ashes, and sandy roads, it is not so, which is shown by incompatible examples. The three examples mentioned are scripture, realization, and ultimate reality, because there are three kinds of Dharma, linking them in order with reliance on meaningless things, or linking them in order with things that have not become vessels for the three vehicles of Dharma. This The teacher's idea is this: Even those who are adorned with many qualities and possess sacred conduct, temporarily slandering me is part of the work. If, without careful examination, or due to the influence of an unwholesome friend, a sinful unwholesome deed is done, then the way to purify it is to slander me, or to mitigate the offense by showing it to others in this way, which is to become free from sin through the power of complete destruction. Even if a very abominable sin has been committed, it will be eliminated by slandering me. That is what is said. This situation should be applied to this and other situations as well. Other ways of slandering me are also shown, namely mentioning one's own suffering, etc. Its meaning is, calling upon the protector of the world, the Bhagavan. That too I cannot bear, because I have no respect for and am meaningless to the path you have shown, and I also cannot understand and rely on you, which is what 'also' means. Why? Because one's own suffering is unbearable.
