Wandering in pure places. It is said. Thus, being overwhelmed by afflictions and remaining in a state of faintness, when one regains consciousness and remembers the state of mind, one is again bound by afflictions and becomes subject to them. Therefore, one quickly becomes frightened. Because the state of mental calm does not last long, it is disturbed and frightened by the weapons of the multitude of afflictions, and being completely destroyed and suppressed, the mind cannot strive in the realm of samadhi, becomes discouraged and loses its power. Therefore, because the mind is influenced by discord, afflictions such as deceit arise, thereby deluding the mind and losing the path to liberation. Therefore, the mind, devoid of the power of antidotes, becomes weak and inferior, and due to ignorance, remains in the realm of demons, wandering aimlessly for a long time among the multitude of afflictions, that is its meaning. In order to eliminate such afflictions, if one meditates on shamatha and vipassana, one cannot trust it, in order to show this, just as, just as one focuses on shamatha, when those repeatedly place their mind there, ༄། །From that and that, the rope of affliction, is involuntarily drawn by the rope of attachment to objects. It is said. The way is, like this, like this, shamatha, that is, focusing on the object of focus, being in a state of meditation, and the mind focuses on it. In order to obtain this one-pointedness, whatever object of samadhi is placed on, repeatedly placing it and learning one-pointedness, it will not remain in that state. Because from that and that object of focus, like a firm rope of affliction, due to the manifest attachment and infatuation with the five desires, the mind looks outward, like a rope, from placing the mind inward on the object of focus, it is involuntarily drawn outward and becomes distracted. It is said, in order to eliminate the multitude of conceptual thoughts, at some point, by the power of quiescence, the mind is gathered inward, and when the wisdom places the dharmas in the realm of emptiness of self-nature and freedom from conceptualization, afflictions will still arise.

Due to the movement of the earth element, one will be influenced by the objects previously experienced and will be distracted, that is its meaning. Even so, if it is said that the effort to focus on the object has been shown, and the mind can be kept calm, then, this is to show that it is difficult to abide in that way. It is said, "If one relies on diligence, there will be agitation." Here, diligence refers to entering with great enthusiasm and effort towards the side of virtue, not to efforts arising from greed and hatred, such as the efforts to regain Sita and Drobita, who appear in the stories of Rama and Bharata. Therefore, here, when abiding by relying on the practice of diligence, which is the antidote to laziness, because effort will cause the mind to lose its peace, the mind will become agitated and wander outwards. If that is the case, then can diligence also be abandoned? It is said, "If it is abandoned, there will be sinking. It is difficult to find the union of this reasoning, what should I do with my disturbed mind?" Seeing the fault of agitation arising, abandoning diligence, and giving up effort, the mind will sink inwards, and focusing on the object will not arise. Therefore, from the state of this mind possessed by afflictions, being free from both agitation and sinking, and abiding equally, this is the union of the mind in reasoning, and this is very difficult to obtain and attain. My mind is unstable, and disturbed by the collection of afflictions, what should I do? That is to say, either way will become a fault, and because it is far from stable, how should it be practiced? That is its meaning. The part of abandoning and adopting will be accomplished through wisdom, so should it be relied upon? Therefore, it is said, "If one uses wisdom, there will be agitation. If one relies on clinging, there will be sinking. This union is difficult to obtain." Wisdom is the discrimination of all the common and individual characteristics of phenomena universally as they are. If someone else uses it, then agitation will arise. Like this, because the mind wanders on various objects, it cannot be calmed. If it is abandoned, the mind
