And it will not give rise to the Dharma of the Noble Path, that is its meaning. Furthermore, in order to reveal the faults of the mind, it is said, "My mind is the very nature of all faults." Because my mind is disturbed by the multitude of afflictions, it is separated from the discernment of what should be abandoned and what should be accepted, and it becomes the source of harm in this life and the next, and it is the very nature or essence of all faults such as desire and hatred. In order to eliminate these faults, the best antidote is the mind of enlightenment. The mind of enlightenment is like an alchemical elixir, it is very wonderful. Combining merit with it, it becomes a thing of fault and exists. Enlightenment is the unsurpassed wisdom, and the mind that attains it is also called enlightenment in the manner of establishing the effect on the cause, it is like an alchemical elixir. Just as an alchemical elixir can make mercury appear as gold, the mind of enlightenment can purify the afflicted mind of samsara and transform it into true wisdom, so it is like an alchemical elixir, it is the meaning of "the mind of all-knowing wisdom." For that very reason, it is very wonderful, it is amazing. In this way, there are many kinds of qualities of the mind of enlightenment, and if they are combined with it, and one begins to purify the mind-stream through generating the mind of enlightenment, etc., but still it does not conform to it, it becomes a thing of fault and exists. That is to say, even when combined with the mind of enlightenment that possesses both worldly and transmundane qualities, it is still dominated by afflictions, and the very nature of the faults of body, speech, and mind becomes the self-nature, and it is accepted and held, just like the mind of a drunken person, it cannot maintain merit, it only becomes the source of faults and exists. This is the concluding statement. The concise meaning of this passage is: Just as iron and other metals that have not been completely smelted do not change their own nature even if they are coated with an alchemical elixir, so too, this mind that has not been completely smelted, even if it is the mind of enlightenment
