And also because it is, and it is everything, therefore it is all the world. By illuminating everything as it is, it should be understood as both the sentient world and the non-sentient world. The darkness of those worlds is the darkness of no light. That which eliminates and destroys that darkness is called that. Who is it? It is the sun, possessing a thousand rays. Even the sun, possessing such qualities, cannot dispel the darkness of the blind. The saying, "The blind cannot dispel darkness," refers to those who are blind from birth, who cannot dispel and destroy darkness. But this is not the fault of the sun, but the fault of the blind themselves. Similarly, the Buddha Bhagavan, with the light of the holy Dharma possessing the three pitakas, if used to destroy the darkness of ignorance dwelling in the hearts of beings, but for those who cling to wrong views and are separated from the eye of wisdom, not eliminating their faults, this is the fault of beings themselves, and not of the teacher. Having thus spoken of the nature of one's own faults, again, in order to show the difficulty of healing with the noble path, it is said: For a long time, disease is the basis, and there also constantly the mind is extremely deluded, what is the use of taking some medicine for a leper whose hands and feet are cut off? Thus it is said. It should be connected to the saying, what is the use of taking medicine for leprosy that cannot be cured. What kind of leper is it? The so-called "for a long time, disease is the basis," refers to what karma causes leprosy, destroying the basis of the Three Jewels, etc., food and behavior that are not suitable, etc., that disease relies and dwells on for a long time, and also the disease, that is, that also constantly the mind is extremely deluded. For the practice of the method of eliminating that delusion, not even a little bit dwells. Also, the so-called "also," not only relying on the disease, but also the mind is attached to that disease. What else is it like? The so-called "hands and feet cut off," refers to the fact that because of dwelling on the disease and not healing it, leprosy spreads throughout the body, and eventually the hands and feet are also cut off and fall off, the leper, in a short

Some people take medicine to cure leprosy, but the medicine does not work. What should be done? It means that this will not cure the disease. Similarly, the root of the disease of afflictions that belongs to one's own continuum is the view of self. One clings to this view for a long time and also manifests attachment. Moreover, one does not seek the noble path as its antidote. For those who have become incurable, the correct path will not perform the function of the path. This is its summary. In order to further illustrate through other examples arising from one's own faults, it is mentioned, "The tree of mind is beginningless time," etc. Mind is the collection of various consciousnesses. It is like a tree, so it is a tree. From what time did it originate? It means "beginningless time," which is both beginningless and temporal, so it is beginningless time. Time refers to the time that is completely divided by the sun, moon, stars, etc. Because samsara has no beginning, it is said in this way. In such a time, by what is that tree nourished? "Moistened by the juice of bitter afflictions." Afflictions are greed, etc. They themselves are not noble, and tasting them is bitter and unpalatable, so they are bitter juices, similar to the juices of neem trees, etc. Nourishing and developing it with such juices, but by this cause, "it cannot be made into a delicious thing." Just as a bitter tree, even if it is moistened and nurtured with water, cannot be made into a sweet nature, etc., therefore, the nature of mind nourished by afflictions is also difficult to be transformed by the noble path. How much can change it? "What use is a drop of water of merit?" Just as on such a tree, even if a drop of water with eight merits such as sweetness is poured, what will happen? It will not all become delicious. Similarly, the nature of mind nourished by beginningless afflictions is difficult to be transformed and reformed by the correct path. For these people, merely relying on the antidote, a drop of water of merit, is not enough to purify the multitude of afflictions.
