Those are the recipients. To illustrate that their mindstream is nirvana. It is said, "The mindstream is like a lamp with exhausted fuel. Nirvana is the exhaustion of the remaining aggregates." Here, mind is the nature of distinguishing. Its stream is the collection of moments passing from one to the next. When that stream is purified by wisdom and transformed, it is said to be like a lamp with exhausted fuel, just as when the fuel of a lamp is exhausted, the lamp no longer burns. The wisdom arising from vajra-like samadhi abandons the afflictions along with their imprints, thus becoming nirvana. Moreover, that is nirvana without remainder, meaning that even the slightest remaining aggregates produced by previous karma and afflictions are burned away by the fire of wisdom, thus being exhausted and abiding in the realm of nirvana, and therefore being very far from the work of benefiting beings, that is its meaning. Now, to illustrate that if such work of benefiting beings arises from bodhicitta, it is incompatible with one's own continuum, therefore it is said, "Whatever eliminates the suffering of all beings," and so on. Among them, "whatever" refers to bodhicitta. What kind of qualities does it possess? It is said, "Eliminating the suffering of all afflicted beings." That is, eliminating and removing all the suffering of all beings included in the four births, up to the peak of existence, who are tormented by the three sufferings. So, who is that? It is said, "Bodhicitta is the essence of nectar." That is, bodhicitta, which has the nature of aspiring to and engaging in bodhicitta. What kind of विशेषता does it have? It is said, "Taking with the essence of nectar." Eating nectar is like not being obstructed by death, bodhicitta maintains the life of the noble path and obtains all the fruits, therefore it is like nectar. Just as relying on the nourishment of medicinal essence can eliminate white hair and wrinkles and make one free from illness, bodhicitta destroys the suffering and afflictions belonging to the continuums of oneself and others.
