Therefore, self-nature purity is certain. The term "self" means to hold firmly. The term "glorious field" means to act as a purifier, in order to place beings on the path of good rebirth. The nature of beings has already been explained. The term "act" is a connective particle linked to the meaning of existence. If one asks, how is it known to be so? The answer is: Just as it is said, "like this, such and such," and so on. Just like this is such and such: not possessing all faults and possessing all qualities, this has also been said before. Field, here, refers to the place where one obtains the fruit of good rebirth and liberation. The purity of the three realms refers to being within the three realms. "Is" is connected with "is not." Therefore, through praise and prostration, one becomes the glorious field of beings. "In beginningless existence, in suffering," and so on, is said. "Beginningless" means a connective particle of commitment. "Completely decayed" means being tormented by birth, old age, sickness, death, and so on. Because birth is without beginning, it is in beginningless existence, in suffering. Existence refers to samsara, and because it is connected with birth, old age, sickness, and death, it is suffering. "For medicine" means in order to abandon all suffering. "For all sentient beings" refers to those embodied beings without distinction. With the demeanor and other speech mentioned before, Bhagavan, you have completely entered. Therefore, it is called skilled in the extremely upright method, which is a praise of the wise. The explanation of the praise of the wise is the twelfth chapter. Chapter Thirteen: Explanation of the Praise of Being Debtless The praise of being debtless will be explained. Debt is what must be done. Because of accomplishing it, it is debtless. Its nature is debtless. So, because of conquering the demons, because of establishing in the true Dharma, because of the distinction of the form body, therefore, debtlessness is proclaimed to sentient beings. So, here, for the time being, the raising of the topic will be explained: Who could repay your kindness? Do not think that there is such a practice. Even those beings who have passed into nirvana, they have not repaid. Abiding in your Dharma.

Ah! Just striving for oneself, what hardship is there for that? What reward can be gained from it? The so-called practice is practice, the so-called not thinking there is is not seeing, this is what the praiser said. How to practice is practice. Kindness is considered to be benefit. Then, aren't those who attain Nirvana by guarding the words of the Sugata repaying the kindness of the Bhagavan? Reply: Among beings, whoever attains Nirvana. And so on, the word "also" is to show the greatness of oneself, the so-called "whoever" is Shariputra and so on. Nirvana is the cessation of afflictions and birth. Those people also did not repay the kindness, because they owed a debt, because they did not repay. Why is that? Explaining: Those who abide in your Dharma. And so on, it means that even those who abide in your Dharma, that is, your teachings, only cease afflictions for their own benefit, and likewise do not do the benefit of others. What hardship is it? It is the hardship caused by teaching the Dharma and so on. For what? For the benefit of those who are to be tamed. What reward can be gained from it? That is, what reward can be gained from it, meaning there is no reward. Therefore, for the time being, you have not repaid those people, how do you benefit them again? Reply: You are the sentient beings sleeping

And, what increases, and what afflictions are painful harms, what suffering that is a painful harm should I remove, with the Buddha's eye he looks at the world, this is called extensive explanation. 'Being mindful' means that the time when the roots of virtue are fully ripened has not passed. 'Sentient beings without mindfulness' means those who do not abide in virtue. Therefore, you are a good friend, so you are a friend, the most excellent medicine, this is the concluding statement. This is better than medicine, because, you have explained the destruction of afflictions. The explanation of these two verses is: You have explained the destruction of afflictions, shown the deception of the demon, spoken of the unpleasantness of samsara, and also shown the aspect of fearlessness. With the thought of benefiting others and compassion, what should be done for sentient beings, what is it that you have not done? What else is there? Afflictions refer to desire and so on. Destruction is explained as the antidote. Monks, for the great disease of desire, the great medicine is ugliness, or cultivating the contemplation of ugliness. For hatred, it is love, or cultivating the contemplation of love. Monks, for the great disease of ignorance, the great medicine is the separate analysis of dependent arising, or cultivating the separate analysis of dependent arising, these are the words of the sutra. Or, according to the circumstances, the antidote to all afflictions is the path of seeing and the path of cultivation, thus it is explained. Having thus explained the victory over the demon of afflictions, with the words 'shown the deception of the demon,' by showing the deception of the son of the gods demon, it is explained that there is no debt. The deception of the demon is the collection of pleasant and unpleasant objects, showing that is what showing means. As it is said in the sutra, monks, here, the demon looks for opportunities, looks for flaws, enters into opportunities, uses the eye to know, the form seen is lovely, pleasing, agreeable, has desire, looks with attachment, and then leads it near, similarly, the sound known by the ear, the smell known by the nose, the taste known by the tongue, the touch known by the body.
