Etc., many are satisfied with the taste of Dharma, and sleep with merit. With a mind that has attained peace, one sleeps peacefully in a quiet place. Thus, the verse was spoken. Similarly, here it is said to be skilled in generating satisfaction. Furthermore, you, knowing the time and thoughts, sometimes do not answer even when asked, but show it to others who arouse interest, and also go to their place and explain. Sometimes you do not answer even when asked. This is to say that a young son of the same clan, who had become a renunciate, asked the Blessed One, "Does Gautama have a self?" He asked the Blessed One, but the Blessed One did not answer. Why? Because "knowing the time and thoughts" will explain. Among them, time is when he did not think that the young man's thoughts were fully mature, thinking that this person is not the time to explain non-self. Therefore, he did not answer. "Going to his place" means explaining even without being asked, which is teaching the Dharma. For example, after dwelling in the house of the potter, the son of Ngan Spong, he went to the follower of Padma and first taught the Dharma such as virtue. At that time, it was because he fully knew the thoughts of the follower of Padma. "Arousing interest" means generating compassion. Others are for subduing others. For example, when Light Protector asked and answered, he said, "However, now is not the time to dispel your doubts." After that, he asked with his strength, and when he asked many times, the Blessed One aroused joy in Light Protector, and at other times, knowing with his mind that his thoughts were fully mature, he answered the question. After hearing it, he realized the truth at other times, which is the meaning of the sutra. By knowing the time and thoughts, the time and thoughts are fully mature. Because he knows, he knows the time and thoughts. Therefore, you who know the time and thoughts. Therefore, here it is said to be skilled in showing those who have meaning. Furthermore, like a spotless cloth dyed with color, first with words of generosity etc., generate joy in the mind, and then teach the Dharma. First with words of generosity etc., in the verse, first

This is the first. By the words of giving etc., it means "etc." The word "etc." should be understood to include the words of keeping the precepts etc. "Joy in the mind" means that the mind is capable, that is, it has the ability to fully understand the meaning with the words of the noble truths. "Time" means the future time. "Dharma" means the noble path. Whoever has the absence of defilement is the garment without defilement, that is, in that. What is the Dharma is dyeing. "Like" is like. Just as a person skilled in dyeing uses ashes and other things to make the clothes clean and free from defilement, and then dyes them, so it is. You use the words of giving etc. to make the mind happy, and you are good at the words of order, so you can preach the Dharma. This is the meaning of without remainder. Thus, the sutra says: "The Tathagata Buddha preached the Dharma at the beginning, such as the words of giving, the words of keeping the precepts, and even the words of being born in heaven. Just as a clean and undefiled garment can receive its color well when dyed, so the Brahmin woman who dwells and follows the same lineage, on her seat, directly proves the four noble truths, such as suffering, accumulation, cessation, and the path." Therefore, here it is said to be good at preaching the Dharma in order. Why is it done like this? Therefore, it is said: "In the abyss of unbearable samsara, in order to lead sentient beings away from afflictions, there is no means or conduct that you have not sought." This is an extensive explanation. "Means" means exertion. If you practice means to guide those who have no affinity, can't you? The answer is: "Conduct" means the word "and", which is the meaning of the word "and". What means is not used? There is none. Who does not diligently seek the mind? It means that you have not made diligent efforts. Its meaning is: you have diligently sought means and conduct. Why? "In the abyss of unbearable samsara" etc., means that relying on old age, sickness, and death, samsara is unbearable. Because it has been from beginningless time, it is deep and far-reaching. Wanting to lead from it
