The meaning of "Having Abandoned Extremely Great Afflictions" is: Afflictions refer to things like attachment, and abandonment means having abandoned afflictions. This is something that even the Hearers can do. "Extremely great" refers to something special, because even the habitual tendencies have been abandoned. "Only on that night" means that the fact that Mara would be near in order to cause the samadhi to degenerate on that night is itself amazing. Even if one encounters the causes of distraction, it is the one who has abandoned extremely great afflictions who is amazing, not the one who has conquered Mara. So, is it also amazing that the Bhagavan displayed great miracles and subdued the Tirthikas, such as the Naked Ascetics? Why is it necessary to fixate on this? The answer is: What is so amazing about the sun, With its myriad rays of light, dispelling the darkness? What is so praiseworthy about you, O Hero, For having conquered the Tirthikas? In mentioning "dispelling the darkness," dispelling the darkness refers to dispelling the darkness. The sun refers to the sun. What is it like? The answer is: With its thousand garlands of light. In mentioning, light refers to lights. It is both a thousand and a garland of light, so it is a thousand garlands of light. Who has it? It is the one who has a thousand garlands of light. It is not amazing that the sun with a thousand garlands of light dispels the darkness. For this, the person who does not discriminate at all becomes amazing, and he thinks that this is amazing. Your victory over the Tirthikas should be connected with amazing. Hero refers to indicating the Tibetan word and the reason. Because you have the greatness of diligence, therefore you are a hero. Because those Tirthikas have inferior diligence, even the Hearers such as Shariputra can easily subdue them, so it is not amazing that you have conquered them. For this reason, it is also not amazing, therefore: The one without desire, with the one with desire, Will be explained in detail. The one without desire, with the one with desire, The one without hatred, with the one with hatred, The one without delusion, with the deluded one, The three constantly subdue the three. Desire

The three types of people with desire, hatred, and ignorance, and the three types of people without desire, without hatred, and without ignorance, you always tame them according to their order. Those heretics are full of desire, but you are liberated. Therefore, it is not surprising that you conquer the heretics, this is the brief meaning. So, what is the wonder of the Bhagavan? It is said: Praising the excellent Dharma, Criticizing the non-Dharma, For the noble and the ordinary, You have no attachment or anger. Praising the excellent Dharma, When saying this, praise is praise. Excellent Dharma refers to the virtue of the pure side. The so-called "non-Dharma" refers to the afflictions of the completely afflicted side. The so-called "criticizing" is criticizing. The so-called "attachment" is following attachment. Anger is anger. You do not have these, This is its meaning. To whom do you not have them? It is said: For the noble and the ordinary. That is to say, for the virtuous and the non-virtuous, you have no attachment or anger. However, because you criticize others, you praise or criticize, this is your thought. This is also wonderful, because of what reason? For the Arhats and heretics, Following attachment and anger, Your mind will not change, Why should I praise you? For the Arhats and heretics, Saying this and so on, Your mind will not change, This will be explained. The so-called Arhats are those who have completely abandoned all faults. For the heretics, it refers to the perfecters and so on. The so-called "following attachment and anger" refers to the heretics who harm the Dharma nature, because of anger, your mind will not change, that is to say, you will not be angry with them, this is your thought. For the Arhats such as the venerable Ananda, their greatness lies in the fact that Ananda is a person who lives in the monastery, a person who wipes away dust, and because he is attached to the cave, he does not rely on desire, like a cow, you have for a long time...
