It is so. Its purity is like the purity of autumn water, which is still tainted. Because it arises from the completely impure actions of body, speech, and mind, possessing habitual tendencies, and is free from the defilement of all afflictions. Such verses, from the autumn moon and so on, declare the incomparability of the Blessed One's speech and so on. To gather the praise of incomparability, it is said: Whatever is good in the world, even if all is offered, it does not equal it. Afflictions, worldly dharmas, do not surpass the Buddha's Dharma. Even if all is offered, it does not equal it. As it is said. "Does not equal it" means that everything is as flat as an ox's footprint, and so on, meaning that it has all been said. What is briefly described, such as the depth of the ocean, is only words. Since it can be understood by the meaning of this treatise itself, all others are not metaphors, and this is said in brief. What is everything? It is said: Whatever is good in the world. Whatever is said, such as lotus and blue lotus. What is good is what is beautiful and praised in the world, and it is not your metaphor, that is the intention. By what cause? It is said: The Buddha's Dharma does not surpass it. What is said, "does not surpass it," means that there are many differences without obstacles, as previously said. What is the meaning of "for what"? The Buddha's Dharma is strength and fearlessness, and so on. Worldly dharmas are the sun and moon, and so on, which are praised in the world. Here, the word "dharma" should be understood as merely a word for things. Afflictions are obstacles and obscurations, and so on, as said, possessing destructibility. It is said: Why? Afflictions, worldly dharmas, do not surpass the Buddha's Dharma. Therefore, whatever is good in the world, even if all is offered, it does not equal it. What is said is not your metaphor. Such verses, having declared incomparability from worldly metaphors, the Blessed One, with the transcendence of the world,

An analogy should be explained using incomparable analogies. What precious Dharma have you attained? You, the supreme one, are compared to that very Dharma. Comparing that Dharma to you, and you to it, is merely foolish. When it is said, "What precious Dharma?" the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment is suitable here as the precious Dharma, not Nirvana, because even the Shravakas and others attain it. "Attained" means to truly follow or to manifest. "You, the supreme one" means the supreme of all sentient beings. Among all sentient beings, whether they are footless, two-legged, or many-legged, the Tathagata, Arhat, perfectly enlightened Buddha is the supreme one. This is a statement from the Sutra. "That" refers to the precious Dharma. The word "nyid" (ཉིད་) means to be certain, only that, not another. The word "khonar base pa" (ཁོ་ནར་བས་པས་) means to be completely pure. Because it is completely pure, it is excellent! This is an address to the Bhagavan. Because the precious Buddhas are completely pure, there is no fault in making comparisons, that is the intention. Therefore, it is said, "That and you," where "that" refers to the precious Dharma. The word "dang" (དང་) is to lead to the foolishness of making comparisons. "You" is compared to the Bhagavan, the analogy of the precious Dharma and that of you, is a concise statement. From the alternating verses, the teacher Dignāga also praised it specially: "Or that is not equal to you, because the two are equal, the logician cannot say, and no one can realize that." So it is said. The meaning of that is this: Even if there is a difference between an elephant and a wild elephant, it can be exemplified by the common knowledge of logic, etc., just as an elephant is, so is a wild elephant. Or, just as a wild elephant is, so is an elephant. Likewise, the measure of the Tathagata and the precious Dharma cannot be known by anyone. Therefore, your precious Dharma is not an analogy, nor is that of you. If the Bhagavan...
