As the scripture 'Wooden planks and book straps' says, there are four types of offerings. First is the offering of a throne, visualizing the actual offering of a Dharma seat supported by lions, covered with silk, and inscribed with: 'A lion throne made of various jewels, covered with delightful colorful silks, by offering this to the supreme scripture free from elaboration, may all beings be seated on the Vajra seat.' Recite ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་ཨཱ་ས་ནཱ་ཡ་ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ་སྭཱཧཱ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning: Om, Vajra, Seat, Ah, Hum, Svaha) and offer it. Second is the offering of clothing, visualizing the actual offering of silk covering the sacred object, and inscribed with: 'As radiant as Indra's rainbow, bringing happiness upon touch, I offer this beautiful precious garment to tame my mind, may I be adorned with the sacred garment of patience.' Recite ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་ཝསཏྲ་ཡེ་ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ་སྭཱཧཱ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning: Om, Vajra, Clothes, Ye, Ah, Hum, Svaha) and offer it. Third is the offering of wooden planks, visualizing the actual offering of two wooden planks, and inscribed with: 'Holding the supreme Dharma of union, free from all distinctions, connected with skillful means and wisdom, interdependent like the sun and moon, by covering with this, may all beings realize union.' Recite ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་པྲཛྙཱ་ཨུ་པ་ཡ་ཨ་དཱ་ཡ་ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ་སྭཱཧཱ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning: Om, Vajra, Wisdom, Means, Giving, Ah, Hum, Svaha) and offer it. Fourth is the offering of book straps, visualizing the actual offering of scriptures bound with straps, and inscribed with: 'Although appearing with many elaborations, yet becoming one like merging into great wisdom, by offering this tool for binding scriptures, may beings realize great wisdom.' Recite ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་པུསྟ་ཀ་བནྡྷ་ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ་སྭཱཧཱ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning: Om, Vajra, Book, Binding, Ah, Hum, Svaha) and offer it. Then, the offering attendant arranges these offerings beautifully on the offering table. Offering through Homa or Caru Food: The third is offering through Homa or Caru food. If performing Homa, then according to the increasing Homa ritual described in the four activities of Hevajra, according to each person's practice, in a spacious place such as a temple where smoke will not be a problem, or in a suitable place such as a lower corridor. If there are people in that place, then perform it in a suitable place such as outside. When offering to the departed deity, if the main object of the consecration is the body of the Lama, then invite Vajradhara and Hevajra; if it is a stupa or temple, then invite Vairocana Hevajra; if it is a scripture, then invite Amitabha Hevajra, etc., according to the specific situation, and invite them to the fire altar. Then, offer one hundred and eight portions of burnt offerings, mainly grains mixed with three sweets. In order to increase the life and merit of oneself and the patron, perform Homa of durva grass, etc. Milk, etc...

If you are interested in practicing sadhana etc., then you should refer to the writings of the Sakya school, the second Buddha of the degenerate age, Vajradhara Kunga Zangpo and his sons, as well as the writings of Tashi Gyatso and Delek Gyatso. Nowadays, because fire offerings are not performed in practice, there is no fault in not doing them. Jetsun Rinpoche said that if you cannot perform a fire offering, place abundant food offerings in a beautiful container and decorate it with various ornaments. Nowadays, in practice, only 'tsa ru' food is made. In a beautiful container, draw patterns with tsampa, decorate it with butter-made sun, moon, jewels, etc., and erect a yellow silk victory banner (gyaltsen) and flags. Arrange various foods and drinks around it. All offerings must rely on the three white things (milk, yogurt, butter) and the three sweet things (honey, brown sugar, crystal sugar), because the benefit of consecration (rab gnas) is that great goodness arises in the world and especially in that place, bringing perfect happiness, so one must abandon evil and do good. In addition, if it does not match the donor's (sbyin bdag) financial situation, if it is not intentionally slaughtered, then use as much dried meat as possible. As for drinks, offer yogurt to monks (dge slong); for lay vajra holders (khyim pa rdo rje 'dzin pa), offer a cup of chang (barley beer), do not drink greedily. Meat and alcohol needed by donors, craftsmen, etc., should be prepared in a separate room, not placed in the place of 'tsa ru' food. In this way, place the 'tsa ru' food etc. on cloth etc. The offering attendant sprinkles water from the activity vase (las bum) on these foods. All the teachers and disciples make the space treasury mudra (nam mkha' mdzod kyi phyag rgya), and recite: namaḥ sarva tathāgatebhyo viśva mukhebhyaḥ sarvathā khaṃ udgate spharaṇa imaṃ gagana khaṃ svāhā (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning). Recite three times, striking the cymbals (se gol) after each recitation. In this way, visualize blessing from the wish-fulfilling ocean and offering it to the object of consecration, and sing in a pleasant voice: 'A hundred-flavored, intoxicating delicacies, I offer with devotion to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, may all beings enjoy the rich food of samadhi.' After reciting three times, recite: oṃ dibya ānane samādhi dhyāna praṇane svāhā (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning). The offering attendant takes a small amount from the food and drinks, collects it in a clean container, and offers it in front of the new object of support. The remaining food is enjoyed by those who are convenient outside, without any leftovers, and draw patterns with tsampa. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
