It is only the single Buddha. However, regarding the Dharma and Sangha being spoken of as temporary refuges, it is because their ultimate destination is the Buddha himself. As explained before, the capable one, distinguished by having no beginning or end, etc., is characterized by the two truths of complete purification, is free from desire, is ultimately accomplished, and possesses the Dharmakaya. The assembly of the three vehicles is also distinguished by abandonment and realization, and their ultimate destination is also the manifestation of the Buddha's Dharmakaya. That is what is said. Explaining with definitive words, it is because the sound of "རཏྣ" (Tibetan), Ratna (Sanskrit Devanagari), ratna (Sanskrit Roman transliteration), meaning "jewel," can refer to both the Three Jewels and precious jewels. Therefore, here too, the Three Jewels are shown to be similar to precious jewels through six common characteristics. That is, just as precious jewels are rare in the world, similarly, the Three Jewels are also rare because those who have not accumulated the merit of the two accumulations for many eons cannot even encounter them. Just as precious jewels are pure and without impurities, similarly, the Three Jewels are also completely without the impurity of faults. Just as precious jewels have the power to eliminate decline and bestow wealth, similarly, the Three Jewels also possess the power of inconceivable collections of qualities such as clairvoyance. Just as precious (20) jewels become the adornment of the world, similarly, the Three Jewels also become the supreme adornment of all worldly beings because they make the minds of all beings the cause of virtue. Just as precious jewels are superior to artificial things, similarly, the Three Jewels are also transcendent of the world, so they are the most supreme among all dharmas. Just as precious jewels do not change due to praise or criticism, similarly, the Three Jewels are also of unconditioned nature, so they never change due to causes such as faith or lack of faith. Therefore, they are similar to precious jewels, and so they are called the Three Jewels. That is, from that which exists, the place of obtaining purity beyond the world, the Three Jewels are established. In this regard, elaborating on the limbs of the four places of obtaining, there are three: the common exposition, and

The nature of each, and their benefits, etc. There are four common teachings: how the four places become sacred lands, and how they are shown to be inconceivable. The reasons for this are explained in detail, and the characteristics are established as the nature of cause and condition. Among them, how they become sacred lands is as follows: "The Thusness with defilements" refers to the fact that the Dharmadhatu itself has not been liberated from the bud of afflictions, and the state of sentient beings is said to be the essence of the Tathagatagarbha. "The Thusness without defilements" refers to the state where one has not become accustomed to the essence, is free from all sudden defilements, and abides (21). The characteristic of complete transformation, the state of Buddhahood, is said to be the Dharmakaya of the Tathagata. "The Buddha's qualities without defilements" refers to the ten powers associated with the Dharmakaya itself, the four fearlessnesses, the eighteen unshared qualities, etc., the fruit of separation, and the thirty-two major marks, etc., the Dharma of the Buddha, which is included in the fruit of maturation. "The deeds of the Victorious One" refers to the power by which those qualities, such as the ten powers, are truly accomplished, and the supreme activities that spontaneously accomplish the benefit of sentient beings and continuously accomplish it in accordance with each. Thus, the way in which the three jewels of good virtue arise from the four places of cause and condition is the realm of activity of the Buddhas who possess the ultimate wisdom that directly sees the truth of Dharmata. How they are inconceivable is as follows: the cause of the arising and accomplishment of the three jewels of the fruit, the four places that have become cause and condition, what is the meaning of these? Seeing all aspects of knowable things directly, it is the realm of activity of the wisdom of the Buddhas alone, and also the meaning of those, the four aspects such as the realm, these are possessed by the four reasons that will be explained in order, and are inconceivable to ordinary people as they are. The reason for this is: what are the four reasons? (22) The meaning of the realm of Thusness with defilements is, what
