It is because of perfect purity that one sees correctly. That is what it says. The way to practice abandonment and adoption according to knowledge is: For example, those who are knowledgeable and want to be free from the suffering of disease and attain the happiness of being without disease, must know the nature of the disease, and abandon the causes that produce the disease, such as unsuitable food. To abide in the happiness of being without disease is what is to be attained, and the way to do that is to rely on good medicine. Similarly, those who are wise and want to be free from the suffering of samsara (169) and attain the happiness of nirvana, must also fully understand that all of samsara, which is defiled and encompassed by results, is suffering. All the causes of arising, encompassed by karma and afflictions, must be abandoned. The cessation that is free from defilements, and the happiness of nirvana, must be directly experienced and attained. As a means to that, the five undefiled paths must be gradually cultivated in one's own mindstream. That is what it says. The way of performing manifestations should be determined by the example of Brahma, which has two aspects: showing appearance to those with fortune and not showing appearance to those without fortune. There are three aspects to showing appearance, of which the similarity of effortless accomplishment is: For example, the great Brahma, a god of the form realm, without ever moving from his own palace of the first dhyana in the Brahma realm, effortlessly shows the appearance of manifestations in all six abodes of the gods who engage in desire. Similarly, the Buddhas, the complete and perfect Buddhas, never move from the ultimate Dharmakaya, but in all the boundless realms of the world, they effortlessly and spontaneously manifest various forms of nirmanakaya to sentient beings who have fortune, and teach according to whatever needs to be tamed. That is what it says. Showing similarity by eliminating faults is: Just as the great Brahma god always abides in his own (170) palace without moving, but his manifested body pervades all the abodes of the gods of the desire realm, and is seen by the six kinds of gods who engage in desire, and the wealth of the gods of the form realm.

Due to seeing such a sight, many gods of the desire realm also, in order to attain the state of Brahma, just as they abandon attachment to objects such as beautiful forms, pleasant sounds, fragrant smells, sweet tastes, and smooth touches. Similarly, the Sugatas, the perfect Buddhas, also abide in the Dharmakaya, never moving, but with the Nirmanakaya show infinite miracles in all the realms of the world, and those fortunate beings to be tamed will see them. Due to seeing those miracles of the Rupakaya, many fortunate beings to be tamed also, in order to obtain the perfection of the Buddha, are constantly diligent in eliminating all the stains of the two obscurations, including their habitual tendencies. That is what it says. Showing the similarity by comparing it to fortune is: Just as in the past, the power of Brahma himself making aspirations to benefit the gods, and the power of the gods in the desire realm accumulating merit together by seeing Brahma, so that Brahma can appear in the desire realm without effort. Similarly, the Nirmanakaya of the self-born perfect Buddha is also due to the previous aspirations of the Buddha, and (171) the power of the merit of the beings to be tamed, so that without effort from the Dharmakaya, various miracles are shown in the world. That is what it says. Regarding the fact that those without fortune cannot see: When the time comes for the Buddhas to tame beings, they descend from the Tushita heaven to Jambudvipa, enter the womb of Maya and other mothers, are born in places such as the Lumbini garden, go to the father's palace, such as the great city of Kapilavastu, joyfully play with eighty thousand consorts and other retinues, renounce the household and practice austerities in extremely secluded places, go to the Bodhi tree and subdue the Maras and their armies, attain the great Bodhi state by relying on the Vajra-like Samadhi, and show the path that leads beings to the city of peaceful Nirvana.

Having well and fully shown the manner of turning the wheel of Dharma, etc., and having seen that the affairs of those who are suitable for a time are completed, the Lords of Sages show the manner of passing into Nirvana, and they no longer appear in the sight of sentient beings who have no fortune to see the Buddha. Thus it is said. There are four things to be determined by the example of the sun's way of spreading wisdom: the way of not discriminating between benefit and harm, the way of doing good to others without discriminating, the way of gradually appearing from fortune, and the way of being superior to the example. Among them, the way of not discriminating is: How is it that the rays of the sun are so hot that at the same time that they are scorching, the lotus flowers are blooming and the lotus flowers are closing, but the sun does not think that the lotus flowers should be opened and the lotus flowers should be closed? Just as the sun's mandala enters without discriminating between the merits of opening and the faults of closing, so here too, the great noble perfect Buddha's sun also, in the same way, with the rays of the holy Dharma, at the same time that it is scorching, the lotus of the disciple's wisdom blooms, and the lotus of the non-disciple's mind closes, but the Buddha does not discriminate between the benefits and harms of those and enters greatly. Thus it is said. There are three ways of doing good to others, among which the way of doing good to others without discriminating is: For example, the sun's mandala, without discriminating, spreads its infinite rays at once, causing the lotus flowers to open and bloom, and causing other characteristics of abundant harvests to ripen. Similarly, the Tathagata, the perfect Buddha's sun mandala, also spreads the infinite rays of the holy Dharma at once, causing the lotus flowers of the disciples to bloom with the petals of merit, and causing the harvests of virtue to ripen, but without discriminating between them, it enters spontaneously. Thus it is said. The way of doing good to others by spreading rays is: For example, the rays of the sun's mandala rising in the sky
