It is just like that. In order to guide the removal of afflictions like clouds, because of being close, the cause of eliminating obstacles, like the force of the great compassion's strong wind. That is its meaning. Regarding the way of being continuous: Previously, when accumulating the two accumulations on the ten bhumis, vows and prayers were made to liberate all sentient beings, because the complete cause is determined by other powers to occur; and, one's own attainment of the ground's great enlightenment and the nature of sentient beings' realm being naturally pure, without any difference and seeing them as equal, because of knowing that the activity is meaningful; and, because the world realm is without limit, the activity of destroying all sentient beings' obscurations (150) with great compassion is not completely fulfilled, therefore, until the cycle of those to be tamed is not empty, the activity of the Buddha is continuous. That is its meaning. In order to ascertain this with examples: The Buddhas do not have birth and death, so they are completely separated, having the nature of the unconditioned, then, how from that, until samsara exists, does the activity naturally accomplish and continuously proceed? In order to dispel the delusion of those who have doubts and hesitations, and to generate faith in the inconceivable realm of the Buddha. Because the examples are explained with many clear examples, there are four points: summarizing and distinguishing with examples, combining the meaning to explain each entity, stating the necessity to summarize the current meaning, and summarizing again to explain the difference. Indicating with a summary: The activities of the Tathagatas, spontaneously accomplished without discrimination, and entering in accordance with the capacity of those to be tamed through continuous means, in order to symbolize that point, there are nine examples. That is, showing the infinite manifestations of the body, like Indra not moving from his heavenly abode, while his image appears in the human realm, just like encouraging virtue; proclaiming various teachings of speech, like the great drum proclaiming the four seals of Dharma, just like benefiting the gods; the wisdom and compassion of the mind pervading all sentient beings, like clouds pervading everything and raining

Just as rain causes crops to ripen; the manifestation of various emanations of body and speech (151) is like Brahma himself not moving from his abode, yet the emanations are seen by the gods of the desire realm and accomplish their purpose; the emanation of the immeasurable wisdom of the mind is like the sun's rays gradually dispelling darkness; benefiting others by relying on the secret of the mind is like a wish-fulfilling jewel granting needs and desires without thought; benefiting others by relying on the secret of speech is like the image of sound not being truly existent, yet showing various meanings; benefiting others by relying on the secret of body is like the sky pervading everything, yet not appearing as conditioned form; the way of accomplishing the benefit of others from the compassion of transformation is like the earth benefiting beings by being the foundation of everything. Thus it is said. Each of their natures has nine aspects: the way of showing various miraculous powers should be determined by the example of Indra; the way of speaking instructions should be determined by the example of a drum; the way of acting with wisdom and compassion should be determined by the example of clouds; the way of manifesting emanations should be determined by the example of Brahma; the way of emanating wisdom should be determined by the example of the sun; the secret of the mind should be determined by the example of a jewel; the secret of speech should be determined by the example of a rock echo; the secret of body should be determined by the example of the sky; the way of entering compassion should be determined by the example of the earth. The example of Indra has three aspects: although there is no conceptual thought, the way of accomplishing the benefit of others; explaining this in detail; and showing the principle of no birth and no death in summary. Although there is no conceptual thought, there are two ways of accomplishing the benefit of others: explaining the nature of the example as a symbol, and explaining the nature of the meaning as a symbol. There are four examples, namely the way images appear on a pure ground: for example, if the entire Jambudvipa were to become a precious beryl jewel with a pure nature, because it is very pure, bright, and without stain, like the surface of a mirror, Indra, the lord of the gods, residing on the summit of Mount Sumeru in the Thirty-Three Heavens, together with countless retinues of goddesses and so on, and the main places, etc.
