(12) Completely destroying, becoming the antidote itself. With three meanings, making the sacred Dharma like the sun, pacifying with the truth of the path, to those I prostrate with complete reverence, that is the meaning. Explaining that meaning in detail is: This treatise just explained elucidates the Dharma Jewel possessing six or eight qualities. Namely: the quality of being inconceivable by conventional consciousness; the quality of being non-dual with karma and afflictions; and their cause, the quality of non-existence of improper conceptualization; the quality of complete purification of the stains of afflictions; the quality of clear manifestation of the light of wisdom; and destroying the darkness of the three poisons, the quality of the antidote itself, with six divisions of substance. If divided by reversal, the first three are the result, that is, what should be separated from desire, the Truth of Cessation; and the latter three are the cause, that is, by what means one is separated from desire, the Truth of the Path. Possessing the characteristics of the two completely purified truths, possessing eight qualities, that is the sacred Dharma. Summarizing these into two truths is: That which is called Dharma is the very separation from desire, which is the result of separation from attachment, the Truth of Cessation, and is encompassed by the Truth of the Path that causes separation from attachment. In order, those two truths are also: with the three qualities of inconceivable, non-dual, and non-conceptual, it should be understood that the Truth of Cessation possessing the purity of both is shown. With the three qualities of purity, clarity, and antidote (13), it should be understood that the Truth of the Path that causes purification is shown. That is the meaning. Combining these and explaining the reason is: Taking what is shown in the praise as the reason, thereby sequentially establishing and explaining the distinctions of qualities. The ultimate Truth of Cessation to be attained, is neither existent, nor non-existent, nor both existent and non-existent, nor neither. Because it is not an object to be examined by the speculation of conceptualization holding to the four extremes, and because it is an object to be expressed by sound and terminology, definitive words, etc., and is to be known by the self-aware wisdom of the noble ones in meditative equipoise.

This is because, in terms of three reasons, it is beyond the comprehension of worldly minds. Because of karma and defilements, and the cessation of all afflictions arising from them, it is non-dual. Because of the cessation of improper conceptualizations about these things, it is non-conceptual. As it is said: Shariputra, what is called cessation is the Dharmakaya, the nature of non-duality, the Dharma of non-conceptualization. Thus it is said. The cause for attaining the Dharmakaya is the merit of the paths of seeing and meditation, and the three ways clarified by the words purity and so on, should be understood with three corresponding Dharmas, just like the sun. That is, just as the orb of the sun is completely pure, in accordance with Dharma, free from all the stains of afflictions that are close by, and able to manifest forms; in accordance with Dharma, able to manifest all aspects of knowable things; like the antidote to darkness, in accordance with Dharma, able to counteract all obstacles to seeing Suchness. Holding this, the nature of the Sangha Jewel has three aspects: stating the object through praise, doubly proving these qualities, and combining these to explain in detail. Among these, the praise is: The irreversible mind of the Bodhisattva, which is the antidote of the nature of luminosity, has become manifest. Therefore, the Bodhisattvas see that the nature of the afflictions to be abandoned has not arisen from the beginning. Therefore, the Bodhisattvas truly realize the nature of all beings, the limits of the selflessness of persons and the selflessness of phenomena, or the peaceful nature of phenomena, through the wisdom of knowing as it is, and through the wisdom of knowing as many as there are, by seeing that the Dharmakaya of the Buddha, which is the perfection of the nature of phenomena, pervades all sentient beings and follows them. These also, in turn, through the wisdom of the absence of attachment to objects and the obscuration of obstacles, possess wisdom that transcends the world, knowing the purity of the Dharmadhatu of beings, and because they possess the object of knowing that it pervades infinite beings, therefore possessing the pure wisdom of seeing all knowable things, are the supreme refuge of all embodied beings.
